Michelle Plotnik Chosen as Irish Day Parade Grand Marshal!

Murphys, CA....Michele Plotnik, the guiding light behind Murphys Irish Day for many years, has been selected to be the Grand Marshal of this year’s Irish Day Parade when it makes its way down Main Street on Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. “One of the perks we get for organizing the parade is the honor of selecting the Grand Marshal,” states JoAnna Reagan, who along with her husband Bob orchestrates the parade. “We felt strongly that is was time for Michelle to have this recognition. She is not one to seek the spotlight, preferring to work tirelessly behind the scenes. The only reason she agreed to be the GM was that we made it clear that it was a condition of our agreeing to serve another year.”..........
Murphys, CA..The CHP release is in for an early morning crash on Hwy 4 yesterday. A young Murphys resident was traveling eastbound on Hwy 4 at an unknown speed. According to the driver she had been up for nearly 24 hours straight and was very sleepy. She had left San Francisco around 1am to drive home because she had to be at work at 8am. She remembers driving through Vallecito, but after that she doesn't remember anything. As the Toyota passed Green Meadow Ct., she apparently went to sleep...

Murphys, CA....In celebration of Dr. Suess and all of his incredible books, a Read Across America extravaganza took place on the campus of Michelson Elementary School in Murphys. Students were greeted first thing in the morning by a special tandem reading of Green Eggs and Ham by school Librarian Melissa Francis who read the story in English and then 2nd grade teacher Suzanne Mattson echoed it in Italian. BRAVO! What a treat!! Speaking of treats, Melanie Klann made "green eggs" and ham for everyone, which was .....
