Murphys, CA....In celebration of Dr. Suess and all of his incredible books, a Read Across America extravaganza took place on the campus of Michelson Elementary School in Murphys. Students were greeted first thing in the morning by a special tandem reading of Green Eggs and Ham by school Librarian Melissa Francis who read the story in English and then 2nd grade teacher Suzanne Mattson echoed it in Italian. BRAVO! What a treat!! Speaking of treats, Melanie Klann made "green eggs" and ham for everyone, which was .....

Murphys, CA....Celebrating its Celtic heritage, which dates back to the Gold Rush era, the town of Murphys each year stages one of the most popular events in the Mother Lode. This year’s Murphys Irish Day will be held Saturday, March 19th. The day will begin with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church on the corner of Church and Algiers Streets. Presented by the Murphys Business Association, the Main St. festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. There is no admission charge.....

Possible Flooding Due to Creek Rising at Hwy 4 and Bret Harte Drive

Murphys, CA....Crews are responding to possible flooding at Hwy 4 and Bret Harte Drive as the creek is rising. Please use extreme caution if driving in this latest storm. Update as of 2:43pm...A hand crew has been requested for additional sandbagging at this location which will take about an hour or so. Updates to come if needed....
