Native Sons Hall, Murphys CA....Santa and Mrs. Claus made a return visit today to the delight of hundreds, as the Murphys Friends Christmas Day Dinner was presented at the Native Sons Hall this Christmas day. Food, song, hospitality, fun, and of course quality time with Santa and Mrs. Claus, were all on the menu. Tim Folendorf, chef not only today but for the last 17 years of this event, told us that 2010 was a record year for meals cooked and served for Christmas; "We roasted 46 whole turkeys and over 240 lbs. of potatoes were served." .....

Chantico-drinking Chocolate
2007 Petite Sirah

* 2 1/2 cups organic heavy cream
* 20 ounces fine-quality unsweeted chocolate finely chopped in a food processor
* 2 t vanilla extract
* ½ cup (or to taste) of organic sugar or sucanot
* Cinnamon stick and or ground Spanish cinnamon

Bring cream, sugar and vanilla to a simmer in a 3- to 4-quart saucepan and remove from heat. Whisk in chocolate until smooth. Pour into small tea cups and serve warm cinnamon sprinkle and cinnamon stir stick.

The Murphys Senior Center completed 2010 with a festive Volunteer Appreciation

Murphys, CA....A Luncheon at their Center, located at 65 Mitchler Ave. in Murphys. MSC is run by a dedicated group of 20 volunteers that are responsible for developing Center programs and the daily operation of the Center. The lunch was donated by Lily and Sage Catering from Murphys and music was provided by piano instructor, Judy Bigelow. The afternoon was completed with the presentation of the first ever “Volunteer of the Year” Award presented to Mary Malispina. Mary has been a mainstay at MSC for years, and was instrumental in the initial creation of the Center. Mary currently serves as a Site ....

Tonight: Snow before 4am, then rain and snow. The rain and snow could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 33. Breezy, with a south southwest wind between 14 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 11 to 17 inches possible...

Murphys, CA...There are three common loan programs which are Federally Guaranteed – namely FHA, USDA and VA as well as a myriad of State programs. Many renters will qualify for one of the programs with little or no down payment. Some programs even allow down payment assistance in order to help first time home buyers.

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insured loans are a type of federal assistance and have historically allowed lower income Americans to borrow money for the purchase of a home that they would not otherwise be able to afford. The program originated during the Great Depression of the 1930s, when the rates of foreclosures and defaults rose sharply, and the program was intended to provide lenders with sufficient insurance. San Andreas, CA...After decades of need the new Adult Detention Facility is officially underway. The Calaveras Board of Supervisors and the Sheriff's Office thanked the Citizens who voted to support Measure J and the State of California for the AB900 funds which are making the new Jail a reality. The voters passed the bond measure in 2007 with 67.2% percent of the vote....
