Calaveras County, California, Needs Additional State And FEMA Assistance In Managing Its $10.8 Million FEMA Grant

Posted by: News_Desk on 10/06/2016 01:45 PM
Calaveras County, CA...About 10 months after the disaster declaration, the County still had not started Project 78, a major $8.3 million debris-removal project to clear hazardous trees. This has delayed recovery for the entire area because the County is not initiating other critical work until hazardous tree removal occurs. Therefore, delays to this project will create delays to other disaster-related work.

ArtsHarvest with Mumbo Gumbo at the Avery Hotel

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/17/2016 12:23 PM
Avery, CA...The Avery Hotel is the place to be on Saturday, September 17 from 4-9 pm when Manzanita Writers Press breaks in this newly revitalized historic landmark with ArtsHarvest, a Dinner Dance Party featuring the high-energy, genre-bending Americana music of Mumbo Gumbo. Those who have enjoyed music and camaraderie at the hotel over the years will appreciate the artful facelift it has received in the last nine months under the direction of Fred Baker of Sheep Ranch and his partners Jimmy Sedge and Andy McCardi. They have been working diligently to bring the 1850s treasure back to life. Fred’s vision is to create the Avery Social Club, where local groups and private parties can hold events. History is important to Baker, and he was instrumental in the resurrection of the Pioneer Hotel and the Dance Hall in Sheep Ranch, as well as other notable estates.

Help AMA Sports Send A Local Racer To The Jr. Regionals

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/08/2016 10:41 PM
Avery, CA...When we started the AMA Snowsports program, we hoped an athlete would come along who was smart, athletic and a good soul blazing with passion for ski racing. When we met Michelle Morozinski, she was a shy little girl with a huge smile that radiated joy. Fast forward six years and she still has the big smile, but she has also developed killer focus and a commitment for excellence that has allowed her to dominate the Central Series in California winning 5 of the 6 races so far this year- dropping one by skiing too hard and missing a gate.
