Promontory, Utah...One hundred fifty years ago, the first transcontinental railroad in the United States was completed, and our Nation was changed forever. On May 10, 1869, the final golden spike was driven into the ground at Promontory Summit, Utah, joining the tracks of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. This unbroken rail line of nearly 2,000 miles from Omaha, Nebraska, to Sacramento, California, connected the existing eastern rail network to the western states and territories, enabling passengers and goods to travel from coast to coast more economically and in as little as a week.
Congressman Tom McClintock On The Resolution Holding William Barr in Contempt of Congress

Washington, DC...Remarks by Congressman Tom McClintock Regarding the Resolution Holding William Barr in Contempt of Congress. House Judiciary Committee, May 8, 2019, Mr. Chairman: The subpoena issued by this committee puts the Attorney General in a legal Catch-22: To comply with the subpoena, he must break the law. If he obeys the law, he must disobey the subpoena. Every person on this committee knows that the law forbids release of grand jury testimony. Congress is the law-making branch. If the committee feels it is so important to see the grand jury testimony, it can change the law. But it cannot order the highest-ranking law enforcement official in our country to break the law to please the whims of the majority.
President Trump on Imposing Sanctions On Iron, Steel, Aluminum, and Copper Sectors of Iran
Posted by: thepinetree on 05/09/2019 09:56 AM
Washington, DC...One year ago, I dramatically strengthened our national security by ceasing America’s participation in the horrible, one-sided Iran nuclear deal. Today, I am signing an executive order to impose sanctions with respect to Iran’s iron, steel, aluminum, and copper sectors, the regime’s largest non-petroleum-related sources of export revenue. Under the Iran nuclear deal, Iran was free to engage in and sponsor terrorist networks, develop its missile force, foment regional conflicts, unjustly detain United States citizens, and brutalize its own people, all while maintaining a robust nuclear infrastructure—not to mention, as we now know, its extensive nuclear weapons archive.
