Washington, DC...Thank you very much. Thank you. Members of Congress, members of the Cabinet, honored guests, and fellow Americans: It is my privilege to address you tonight from the East Room of the White House. We are gathered together this evening for a truly momentous occasion. I have long been told that the most important decision a President can make is the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice. Well, in just a few moments, we will proudly swear in the newest member of the United States Supreme Court: Justice Brett Kavanaugh. (Applause.)

Washington, DC....Okay, well, thank you very much everyone. Before we begin, I’ll just say that we’re very well prepared for the incoming hurricane. We have another coming. So we’ve done very well — North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico –so many places. And we have another one coming, and a big one — much bigger than they anticipated a week ago, seven days ago. I heard, for the first time, there was a very small drop of weather that looked like it was forming. And now, it’s pretty close to a Category 3, if it’s not already a Category 3.

On Leif Erikson Day, we celebrate the extraordinary journey made by this son of Iceland and grandson of Norway with his crew and recognize the immeasurable contributions that generations of Nordic Americans have made to our Nation.

Washington, DC...This is a momentous and joyous day for the Constitution and for the rule of law. Despite the mockery that Senate Democrats made of the confirmation process and their grotesque accusations against Judge Kavanaugh -- that were not only entirely unsubstantiated but overwhelmingly contradicted by the evidence -- our American principles of justice and fairness prevailed. Justice Kavanaugh’s record of upholding and defending the Constitution as written – whatever the political implications – will be a welcome addition to the Supreme Court.
