San Andreas,CA...2017 activities for the Commission on Aging will be made at a planning session February 3, 2017 at 9:30 am at The Link, 130 E. St. Charles St., San Andreas. Commissioners will look at the viability of existing projects and be asked to identify and submit new projects to accomplish its mission. The COA is tasked with helping the county provide an environment conducive to the well-being of older adults.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is holding a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 24th at 8:00 a.m. On the agenda is the adoption of a resolution upholding the Planning Commission's denial of the appeal of the Planning Director's denial of Commercial Cannabis Registration. Another item on the agenda is to receive a report from Public Works concerning the January 2017 Storm Damage to County roads, bridges and infrastructure.
Sacramento, CA...The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) installed its 2017 Officers and presented its Rural Leadership Awards at their annual reception in Sacramento earlier this week. Tehama County Supervisor Bob Williams was installed as Chair, Humboldt County Supervisor Rex Bohn was installed as First Vice Chair, and Tuolumne County Supervisor Randy Hanvelt was installed as Second Vice Chair. Glenn County Supervisor John Viegas remains an Officer as Immediate Past Chair. The newly installed Officers will lead the organization in championing policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.

San Andreas, CA...The County of Calaveras, Public Works Department (County) is seeking proposals in an effort to obtain the services from qualified and experienced forestry professionals, arborists, or project management professionals (professional or Consultant) who will provide all project management and coordination services to oversee the County’s, 2015 Butte Fire Incident hazardous tree removal program.

Washington, DC...In the last eight years, our nation’s debt has doubled. That means the Obama administration has borrowed as much money in eight years as our government borrowed in the 220 years between the first day of the George Washington administration until the last day of the George W. Bush administration. Our interest costs are now eating us alive, and last year, the Congressional Budget Office warned that within six years on our current trajectory, interest payments on the debt will exceed what we now spend for our entire defense budget.
