The Spring "Drop The Drugs" Day Is April 26th |

San Andreas, CA...On April 26, 2014 the Calaveas County Sheriff's Department will be sponsoring the spring "Drop The Drugs" Day. Every spring and fall the "Drop The Drugs" day allows people to get rid of unused, expired, or illegal drugs with no questions asked. From 10am to 2pm on April 26 the drugs can be dropped off at the following locations: Feeney Park Parking Lot in Murphys, Calaveras County Office of Education in Angels Camp, Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas and Toyon Middle School in Valley Springs....

Washington, DC....Hi, everybody. Earlier this week was Equal Pay Day. It marks the extra time the average woman has to work into a new year to earn what a man earned the year before. You see, the average woman who works full-time in America earns less than a man – even when she’s in the same profession and has the same education. That's wrong. In 2014, it’s an embarrassment. Women deserve equal pay for equal work.

| San Francisco, CA...A new study released today finds investing in proactive forest management activities can save up to three times the cost of future fires, reduce high-severity fire by up to 75 percent, and bring added benefits for people, water, and wildlife. “Recent megafires in California and the West have destroyed lives and property, degraded water quality, damaged wildlife habitat, and cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars,” said David Edelson, Sierra Nevada Project Director with The Nature Conservancy. “This study shows that, by investing now in Sierra forests, we can reduce risks, safeguard water quality, and recoup up to three times our initial investment while increasing the health and resilience of our forests.” ... |
