Copperopolis, CA...Former Supervisor Russ Thomas has thrown his hat in the ring of those that will vie for the District 4 Calaveras County Supervisors Seat. The newly configured district now includes Copperopolis, Angels Camp and as far up Hwy 4 as Vallecito....

Honolulu, HI...Hello, everybody. As 2011 comes to an end and we look ahead to 2012, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. The last year has been a time of great challenge and great progress for our country. We ended one war and began to wind down another. We dealt a crippling blow to al-Qaeda and made America more secure. We stood by our friends and allies around the world through natural disasters and revolutions. And we began to see signs of economic recovery here at home, even as too many Americans are still struggling to get ahead....

| WASHINGTON – The White House yesterday announced that it will support passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which contains harmful provisions that some legislators have said could authorize the U.S. military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians, including American citizens, anywhere in the world. The final version of the NDAA was agreed to earlier this week by House and Senate conferees.... |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors gave direction to keep the Water Element and the Economic Component of Calaveras County's General Plan moving forward with some adjustments to both. In what has been a seemingly endless multi-year process with countless hours and untold cost Calaveras County is inching forward with progress on it's general plan. This is a necessary process to make sure that Calaveras County can show the state and other agencies that we have plans in place for a myriad of county functions and eventualities...

USPS to Delay Closing Post Offices and Mail Processing Facilities |

Washington, DC...The U.S. Postal Service, in response to a request made by multiple U.S. Senators, has agreed to delay the closing or consolidation of any Post Office or mail processing facility until May 15, 2012. The Postal Service will continue all necessary steps required for the review of these facilities during the interim period, including public input meetings...
