New Melones, CA...Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,965,672 acre-feet of water. The lake level has been steady for the last three months. It is currently at 1049 ft. above sea level and 39 ft. from full. The water temperature is 51-54 degrees and crystal clear. Trout: Very good! There were lots of very nice fish caught this week, with most anglers catching their limits. The average size fish is about 2-pounds. Trout are right up in the shallows, spawning and chasing bait. .....
Glory Hole Sports employee Gary Powell took his son Shane and a buddy bank fishing on the south side of the lake to catch this nice stringer and some big smiles.

Museum Lecture on and at the Historic Sam Choy Building

Angels Camp, CA....Chinese merchant Sam Choy built the structure known as the “Sam Choy” building in 1860. The building was utilized by Sam Choy as a mercantile store from 1860 to 1892. In the years that followed it was owned and/or occupied by various individuals. In 1928, the City of Angels Camp acquired the building and utilized it as a jail until the 1950s. In 1984, the building was successfully nominated and placed on the National Register for Historic Places (NRHP). In July of 2011, the Angels Camp Museum took control of the building from the .....
Angels Camp, CA...It was back and forth with lead change after lead change. The game was in question until the final few seconds but the Bret Harte Mens Basketball season ended in round two of the playoffs tonight. More to follow and lots of photos from Patrick Works but the Ripon team was big strong and ready to play. Congratulations to the Bret Harte team on a wonderful season!!!

Angels Camp, CA...Born as Elizabeth Campbell in Ducor, California on March 7, 1912, Betty Wooster as a child lived with her family in Southern California and the Bay Area. Her parents, Vernon and Jincie Campbell built fruit and vegetable canneries. The family bought the 888 Ranch, between Sheep Ranch and Mountain Ranch, in 1927. She attended Calaveras High School, where she met her future husband Theodore “Buster” Wooster. After graduating from USC in 1934, she taught school in Beverly Hills until 1939, while Buster was starting out in the cattle business. She married Buster in 1940. They lived in Sheep Ranch....
