Bret Harte Varsity Soccer Team Clinches League Title With Win Over Calaveras

Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Varsity Soccer Team clinched their second League in as many years on Thursday night. They are a now a perfect 11-0 in league and 13-2 overall. With two games left in the regular season they are already the Mother Lode League champs and their sights are now set on post season play. We would like to thank Jeff Rasmussen for letting us share his shots from the game. We also have our webcast replay from Dylan Richardson up in our earlier post on the game. Congratulations Frogs!!!!!

The San Andreas Town Hall is the venue for this year’s event. More space will allow attendees to sit and enjoy a buffet dinner, participate in rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs and bid in live and silent auctions. The unique event begins at 5 p.m. and features art, music, raffles, food and philanthropy fun with auctions of unusual chair art by professional artists, community groups and individuals. Tickets are $25 and go on sale in November....

Butterfly chair “Madis Gras” by Lori Kelly; Framed piece “Wicker Chair, by Marilyn Hinsdale and primary color “Art Chair” by Peter Kelly are just some of the early entries for Chairs 2011.

Vallecito, CA..The Tough Mudder Team did a bit of local adventuring before they jetted back to “Tough Mudder” headquarters Tuesday afternoon. Cave and Mine Adventures invited them to a Zip Line Adventure. We thought we would tag along camera in tow to see if the Tough Mudder's were tough enough to Zip Line without a whimper or cry. (I barely made the weight limit, and the friendly cave staff warned me not to trim and trees with my legs!) The Team easily measured up to the test with smiles on their faces. After the Zipping we had the chance to spend a few minutes talking with the Tough Mudder founders Will Dean and Guy Livingstone. It's a fascinating story as Will Dean really is a Tough Mudder as he was a counter terrorism expert for the British Military...

Angels Camp, CA...The now 12-2 Bret Harte Varsity Bullfrogs are turning in another powerful soccer season. They dropped the Summerville Bears 3-1 on Tuesday night. Tonight they host a soccer "Big Game" when Calaveras rolls into Angels Camp...

CDF Firefighters Local 2881 Tuolumne/Calaveras Chapter and Cal Fire "Fill The Boot" Rasises $7,700 On Saturday!

This weekend CDF Firefighters Local 2881 Tuolumne Calaveras Chapter and CAL FIRE held a “Fill the Boot” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in Angels Camp at the Highway 4/49 intersection. We raised approximately $7,700 in about 5 hours. Statewide, CDF Firefighters and CAL FIRE have raised $435,868.60. We have $65,000 to go to meet our statewide goal of raising $500,000. MDA and “Jerry’s Kids” is the sponsored charity for the International Association of Firefighters of which CDF Firefighters L2881 is affiliated with. The IAFF is the largest national sponsor for MDA. And raised last year nearly $28,000,000 for Jerry’s Kids.

The City of Angels Camp, located in the foothills of the Sierras, is seeking a 30-hour per week Museum Director. Under the direction of the Museum Commission, this person is responsible for the planning, organization and daily supervision of all the activities of the museum. Essential responsibilities include: provides regular operational reports as requested by the Commission; develops and administers docent programs; serves as an ex-official member of the Angels Camp Museum Foundation Board; works to expand the Museum’s programs through cooperation with educational institutions, other museums and outside experts; ensures implementation of the Museum’s Master Plan....
