Local Eagle Scouts Paint Map of USA at Mark Twain Elementary

Angels Camp, CA....Mark Twain school has been waiting a long time for a map of the United States painted on it's playground. On Saturday morning, it happened! Eagle Scout, Frank Kotowski, of Troop 343 in Murphys and also a sophmore at Bret Harte decided this would be his project. The Eagle Scout candidate lead friends & other scouts in painting the States, adding value to our educational community. These are some of the things that are involved in an Eagle Scout project....

Angels Camp City Council Meets Tuesday August 18th

Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels Camp City Council will meet Tuesday August 18th at 4pm. They will immediately adjourn to a closed session for a conference with Legal Counsel and also an Employee Performance Evaluation of City Administrator. They will then reconvene at 5pm.with an Abatement Item Public Hearing regarding property owned on Summit Road; Regular Meeting will begin at 6pm. Action will be taken on closed sessions. Consideration of granting approximately 1 year leave of absence to City Administrator for Military Service Active Duty; Proposed Amendment options for Franchise agreement between the City and SEI; Economic Summit II Sponsorship request from Chamber of Commerce; Contract award for wastewater treatment plant improvement project to Pacific Mechanical Corporation who provided low bid of $1,972,800 and more. As You See Fit Clothing Boutique! This Saturday August, 15th

Angels Camp, CA...The Refuge Church is holding another one of their great "As You See Fit" Clothing Boutique this Saturday at their new location in the Glory Hole Center. From 11:00am to 3pm they will have the Boutique open for you to shop. This is a great service they are providing. They ask shoppers to "Take What You Need and Pay What You Can." So if you need those "Back to School Clothes, Backpacks and more"...Be sure to stop on by and see what they have to offer. They will be using the money that they have raised from past boutiques to purchase school supplies to go with new backpacks that people from the the church bought to give away to start the school year off with. While you are there check out their new larger location...


Greenhorn Creek Women Win!

A team of 30 women from Greenhorn Creek in Angels Camp have taken the Valley by Storm. The league consists of eleven teams from the Central Valley region of the Women's Golf Association of Northern California and was started in 1971. Included in the league are women from Pine Mountain Lake, Tracy, Del Rio, Stockton, Woodbridge, Spring Creek, Brookside, Discovery Bay, Elkhorn and Oakdale. Points are awarded at each event. The "A" team, the "B" team and the combined team are eligible for 1 point each. Greenhorn Creek's "B" team beat the field by 5 1/2 points and the....

Mark Twain Union School District Board of Education Meeting Planned for Thursday August 13th at 5:30pm

Calaveras County, CA.......Mark Twain Union Board of Education will meet on Thursday August 13th at the Copperopolis Multipurpose Room. They will start the meeting off with an Open Session at 5:30pm, then move to Closed Session at 5:35pm. The Closed Session will consist of a conference with Labor Negotiator. Superintendent Employee Organization and Angels Copperopolis Educators; Reconvene to Open Session where they will discuss Approval of Resolution 2009/10 Early Retirement settlement agreement and general release of all claims for classified bargaining unit members; Board will also consider the approval in the matter of reduction in Certified Services or Programs and the Children's Internet Protection Act. The Calaveras County Fair is Looking to Fill A Vacancy on the Frog Jump Committee Board

Frogtown- Angels Camp…..The Calaveras County Fair is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Frog Jump Committee board. Board members plan and facilitate the annual jump. They are involved in preserving the history of the jump and well as the event’s integrity. Applications are available at the Fair office. The application deadline is October 1, 2009. Murphys, CA...We had the pleasure to attend the Angels-Murphys Rotary Meeting today where Angels Camp City Administrator Tim Shearer talked about progress Angels Camp has been making on the Branding front. He also talked about his upcoming Iraq Deployment. Tim has been in the reserves for over 20 years where he has attained the rank of Colonel. This will be a huge commitment for him and as he said at the luncheon an even bigger commitment for his family...

The Bear Valley Music Festival has two wonderful events planned for this eve. At 7pm you can enjoy a Silent Movie with RagTime Piano at the Bear Valley Lodge. Or head on over to the lovely Beret Harte Theater for an Opera Preview in Angels Camp. On Friday Evening, The Bear Valley Music Festival Orchestra will perform. Orchestra soloists Gary Sperl, clarinet; Larry Shapiro, violin; Doug Harvey, cello; and Brenda Tom, piano.
