Angels Camp, CA...Monday was the first day teams could officially practice for their upcoming seasons. Calaveras High School Started things off bright and early on Monday Morning and Bret Harte held an afternoon practice. The fall sports season is officially underway. Fireworks Cause of Small Fire at Glory Hole Boat Ramp on Monday |

Angels Camp, CA....CAL Fire states fireworks caused a small fire on Monday August 18th at the Glory Hole Boat Ramp in New Melones. There were no injuries and the fire was contained to a log. Full fire report enclosed....

Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp City Council tonight welcomed two new police officers to the community. Officer Chris Johnson is a local Sonora Product and Officer Edwin Arias will be moving to Calaveras County from the Turlock area. Welcome aboard guys!! Also at the meeting...

Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Back in Action Tuesday Morning |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are back in action Tuesday morning, August 19th at 9am. Some of the items being discussed at the meeting will be A Minute Order authorizing the BOS to appoint Julia Costello, Mike Dell'Orto, Marcy Hosford, Chris Neber and Sue Smith as members to the Mokelumne Hill Design Review Committee; A Minute Order authorizing approval of shelter design for multiple bus shelters in Calaveras County; A Resolution approving an agreement between Calaveras County Behavioral Health Services and JDT Consultants for Therapeutic Behavioral Services for an amount not to exceed $75,000 for FY 08/09; A Minute order authorizing the Health Services Agency Director to sign an agreement with the CA. Dept of Health Service for $13,122.00 for Immunization Assistance Project services during the period of 7/1/08~6/20/09; A Resolution Item authorizing the Sheriff to enter into a contract with the CA Dept of Alcohol Beverage Control for Grant Funding; and a Public Hearing on the new jail; Flood Damage Control is also back on the agenda this week and the Study Session on Annual Review of County Fees that was rescheduled from last week due to the long discussion on Flood Ordinance will take place at 11am. "Gallery at Greenhorn Creek", formerly known as Classics at the Ridge, Time Extension is back on the agenda with a Public Hearing continued from August 5th. A Resolution Item to approve an extension of time for the tentative map for Gallery at Greenhorn Creek; Oath of Office will take place for Chris Johnson, Police Officer; Edwin Arias, Police Officer and Joe Darby, Planning Commissioner; The City Council will have discussion to approve and sign letter to Cal Trans Director, Will Kempton regarding access to properties along state highways. Angels Camp, CA....Starbucks in Angels Camp is hosting Bake Sale Fundraiser for the Poortinga family. As you may recall, Jared Poortinga is a fallen Angels Camp Police Officer who lost his life to a tragic motorcycle accident on Murphys Grade Road in May of 2007 leaving behind his lovely wife, Susan and three small beautiful children. This has been a very difficult time for this family. Our community has come together again today for this fine family....

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Arts Council has had another great run of "Music In The Parks" this summer. Each Week they have taken their road show to another beautiful venue in the county. The turnouts have been impressive. This week brought Delta Wires a Seven-piece Rhythm and Blues Band Bash to Utica Park. They did a wonderful job entertaining the assembled crowd....
