2nd Annual Island Faire Luau to Support Senior Meals |

Angels Camp, CA..Come out and support our area seniors this Saturday, October 20th from 1pm to 6pm at Utica Park in Angels Camp. Fun for all ages. Join us for an authentic Hawaiian feast of mouth-watering pig on a spit, barbeque chicken, tropical chicken salad, red rice, yummy desserts and more. Our no host bar will be serving the best Mai Tai's in the West and other tropical favorites as well as beer and wine. Watch an incredible floor show with professional hula dancers, learn the hula, play games, win raffle prizes and meet Judy Layne our Ms. Senior Citizen Beauty Queen and her court. Can't make it? You can still enter our grand prize raffle for a chance to win a trip to Maui. Winner will be announced at the Luau. (Need not be present to win.)

Angels Camp, CA...Between now and Friday, November 5, anyone over the age of 21 can enter the Calaveras Visitor Bureau’s Adventure Land Photo Contest for a chance to win a huge prize valued at $1500. All you have to do is submit your “Best of Calaveras” photo via the contest platform on our Facebook Page. What are we looking for? Photos must depict Calaveras County in a fun and/or positive light. That’s it. Show us how great Calaveras is through your eyes. Finalists will be narrowed down by the Calaveras Visitors Bureau staff. Once finalists are announced, there will be a fan vote on Facebook to determine the winner. Get your friends to vote for your photo to help you win...

Calaveras Community Band Fall Concert at Smart Performing Arts Center on November 4th |

Angels Camp, CA...SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 3:00 p.m. - Calaveras Community Band Fall Concert – The annual fall concert by the Calaveras Community Band will be presented Sunday, November 4 at 3 p.m. in the Dr. Elliot Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte High School, 323 Main St., Angels Camp. It will offer a variety of music including jazz, Latin, paso dobles, and "Seal Lullaby" by the 42-year-old American composer Eric Whitacre. The band, which traces its history to Gold Rush days, will be under the direction of Mic Harper. There is no admission charge but donations to help maintain the band will be gratefully received. Information: 728-9057.

Murphys Man Shot During Dispute! Rock Salt Fired From Shotgun |

Arnold, CA...On 10/14/12 at approx. 7:40 am Calaveras sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1800 block of Rawhide Road in Arnold for a report of a man who had been shot. The investigation revealed that on the above date at approx. 7:00 am the suspect, Robert Terry (36) of Arnold, became involved in a verbal dispute with the victim, Jimmy Terry (25) of Murphys. Jimmy Terry is the nephew of Robert. Jimmy was also a wanted parolee at large and had an active CDCR felony warrant for his arrest. During the dispute Suspect Robert shot Victim Jimmy in the abdomen with a single shot from a shotgun while outside the residence. Suspect Robert reportedly told Victim Jimmy to leave the property, at which time Jimmy charged Suspect Robert and threatened to kill him. Suspect Robert, in response to Jimmy running at him shot him once. ..

Angels Murphys Arnold youth sports will hold sign-ups for wrestling on Tuesday & Thursday, October 16th & 18th, 2011. Sign-ups will be held at Copello Park at 5:00PM. The cost to sign-up is $65.00 made payable to AMA Booster Club. The cost includes registration and entry fee in 6 tournaments...
