Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp and Dorrington resident for 17 years. Died at age 49. He was born in Fremont, CA to Robert and Anita Peffer, currently of Ashland, Oregon. Douglas was the youngest of four children. Brother Mike Peffer, sister Cheryl Ugland, and sister Jeanne Peffer-Lucas. Graduated from Mission San Jose High School in 1981. He joined the Marine Corps in 1982 and was honorably discharged in 1985 as a Corporal. He met his wife of 27 years in high school and married Stephanie (Phillips) Peffer on July 20, 1985. They have three adult children. Robert Peffer age 26, Petty Officer 2nd Class in the Navy. Keith Peffer age 24, Sergeant in Marine Corps and his wife Ashleigh Peffer age 24, Corporal in the Marine Corps. Andrea Peffer age 20, studying to be a Certified Nursing Assistant...

Vallecito, CA...Hello! I was wondering if you could post this on your website? He is an unneutered male who has been hanging out by the Red Hill dump for the last couple days. No collar. We saw him on Sunday right across from the dump just sitting in the road. My boyfriend just went there this morning and he is still there but closer to the brush part of the dump. He is super lovey so someone has to be missing him! We wanted to give the owner a chance because I know pits dont have much chance at the shelter...

Angels Camp, CA...Longtime Calaveras County resident Georgeine Sherrow passed away in Modesto on August 26, 2012 surrounded by her family. Georgeine was born in Modesto, Ca. to George and Eleanor Albert on January 18, 1942 and lived in Angels Camp, Ca. for the last 42 years. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and retired as postmaster in 1987....

Avery, CA...As I write this I am pedaling on an exercise bike. Not pedaling fast or with my heartrate up but pedaling nonetheless. Two years ago I weighed over 290lbs, I was having heart problems and was recovering from a blood clot in my left foot. I had not exercised regularly for 18 years and was probably a borderline diabetic. Today I am 49 years old and I will be entering the Western USA Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships on October 27th, 2012. 63 Days from today I will be standing on stage. What shape I am in and if I have a chance at placing well is yet to be determined. 9 weeks from today I will find out. So just a few months before my AARP Card arrives in the mail I will try and force my old muscles, joints, tendons and body into shape...

Angels Camp, CA...Some of our local teams kicked off the 2012-13 Football Season last night. Bret Harte came up short against a very tough Ripon Team 0-45. They moved the ball but never could get the scoreboard to tally in their direction. Below are some great shots from great local sports photographer Jeff Rasmussen.
