Manslaughter Charges in Death of Angels Camp Man |

Angels Camp, CA...On August 7, 2012 the Angels Camp Police Department arrested Samual Steele, 39 of Angels Camp for Manslaughter in the death of Michael Elliott. During the course of the investigation police learned that Elliott and Steele had been drinking together at Claussen’s Corner Bar on the night of July 23, 2012. While the two men were inside the bar they were involved in a verbal altercation. The verbal altercation continued just before midnight outside of the bar ultimately escalating to a physical confrontation near the 1200 block of S Main St. During the physical confrontation Elliott was pushed to the ground by Steele which caused him to sustain a head injury.

Angels Camp, CA...Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,643,098 acre-feet of water. The lake level has dropped two feet this week and is currently at 1018 ft. above sea level and 70 ft. from full. Water temperature is in the upper 70's to low 80's. Lake is stained, with mud lines forming around the shore on windy days, and days with a lot of boat traffic.

Angels Camp, CA..Fifty years ago, a group of Angels Camp firemen created Firemens Fun Day to provide fire equipment for the department such as hoses, hose nozzles, first aid gear, and rescue equipment, personal safety gear including fire coats, helmets, and boots. This day has become an Angels Camp tradition and fun filled day for 50 years. Some of those original firemen will attend this last and final event as guests to be honored at the Opening Ceremonies....
