The Miss Calaveras Volunteer Group and Friends of the Fair are having a fundraiser to help support Catherine Lewallen and her family as she undergoes surgery and chemotherapy. You can purchase raffle tickets for the Pot O Gold raffle held at Fair. Ticekts are $25 per ticket or 5 for $100. Each evening at Fair a drawing is held and the winner receives $1000, or a chance to win $10000 at the Sunday evening drawing. Each organization that sells Pot O Gold tickets receives 20% of the proceeds of their sales. The Miss Calaveras candidates have designated their proceeds to benefit Catherine Cornish. Other groups may use the funds as they see fit.....

Raggio Donates Council Stipend to Branding Program |

Angels Camp, CA.....The Angels Camp Brand Leadership Team announced today at the city council meeting that City Councilman Stuart Raggio is donating his monthly council stipend to the Angels Camp branding program. During the election campaign, Raggio pledged not to take the $300 monthly stipend the City pays to the elected members of City Council, but to donate it back to the community. In informing the Brand Leadership Team (BLT) of his decision, Raggio said he based it on the branding program’s importance to the long-term economic health of Angels Camp: “It’s the only economic development plan the city has and I believe that ensuring the plan is successful is very important to our city, our residents and our future generations.” .....

Calaveras Visitors Bureau Now Using QR Technology to Market Calaveras! |

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau has just launched the use of innovative QR code (Quick Response code) technology for marketing Calaveras County to the users of Smartphones, sophisticated mobile devices. A QR code is a two-dimensional matrix bar code with a “hidden message” that identifies products. Customers and potential customers are directed to a message by scanning and photographing QR codes with their Smartphones. This allows businesses to educate and entice customers with special offers, discounts or other information they want to communicate. Through the CVB’s QR codes, visitors can immediately be linked to the CVB’s website or can be led to a landing page with a specific message to that user.....

Angels Camp, CA....Alex Kunesh, Senior at Bret Harte School created Kunesh and Co. as part of her Senior Project. It was presented this weekend at the Bret Harte Theatre. Here is her story...."Beside me stands a cast of twenty three dedicated dancers many of whom have little or no experience in dance. What they have accomplished over the past three months is just short of amazing. As the Artistic Director, of a dance company I have created, Kunesh and Co.
