|
New Melones, CA....Fishing has been tough this past week, with the calm, clear weather making it hard to get a reaction bite out of the bass, and the full moon giving the trout an opportunity to feed all night. But it has been beautiful out on the lake anyway. The lake level continues to rise- we are looking good for water this year! Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,575,189 acre-feet of water. The water level still rising with an additional 3 feet this week and is now 1011 ft. above sea level and 77 ft. from full capacity. Water temperature is about 52-54 degrees at the surface- warmer in the south side of the lake. Water is pretty clear- there is about a 10-12-foot visibility......
9-year-old Evan Sergis of Morada caught 5 trout on crawlers while still-fishing from his boat. |

Troops Update |
Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 01/24/2011 11:31 PM
|
We will continue to send packages to the 101st until they come home. But we are looking for a new troop to adopt. It would be great if a soldier was local, but if anyone has a family member who is still stationed in Afghanistan, please contact me at ghs@goldrush.com. It has been so rewarding for all of us to support our military- we want to continue our efforts. Members of the Tuolumne County Vietnam Veterans' Association stopped by Glory Hole Sports to say thanks for supporting the troops. They were on their way to a memorial for local hero and US Army Veteran Jeremy Clark, who passed away last month in a helicopter crash.

Angels Camp, CA...Officials calling the games tonight between the Argonauts and Bullfrogs at Bret Harte High seemed to have forgotten their glasses, as more than one call nearly resulted in fans coming down from the bleachers with their cameras to point out what they considered obvious and abundant blunders by the referees. This reporter offered his illustrated sequence to add to the mix, as the struggle under the Bret Harte basket resulted in a foul call against....Bret Harte! Perhaps officials thought the Bret Harte player was fouling his opponent with his neck?.....

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 01/23/2011 10:02 PM
|
Calaveras County, CA...Shortly after 9:30pm, a vehicle chase started on O'Byrnes Ferry Road just south of the Tuolumne County line. It continued north up Hwy 4 eastbound towards Angels Camp. There are reports that spike strips were deployed at Hwy 4 and 49 according to Pine Tree reporter Patrick Works a caravan of vehicles traveled south on Hwy 49 still following a dark colored suv driven by a white male in his 50's. There were several CHP, Sheriff and Angels Camp Police vehicles following the vehicle south on Hwy 49. It appears the chase has ended just south of Jackass Hill. More to follow...
We are unsure of the starting point of the chase at this time. It was reported in Tuolumne County before crossing the bridge northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road |
