City of Angels Camp City Council Back in Action Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 |

Angels Camp, CA...The City of Angels Camp City Council is back in action Tuesday, January 4,2011. They will start with a Closed Session at 5pm. They will discuss appointment of City Adminstrator and also hold a conference with Labor Negotiator regarding Police MOU; They will then reconvene to the Regular meeting at 6pm. At this time they will take action on the Closed Session items. New Council members will receive Oath of Office along with Mary Kelly; Election of Mayor and Vice Mayor; A Public Hearing will take place to Adopt and Ordinance amending Title 17, Zoning; Chapter 17. 30 Suburban commercial zone district of the City of Angels Municipal Code; Resolution approving the Calaveras Council of Governments Joint Powers Agreement and more. Angels Camp city administrator tells of operations in Iraq |

| Angels Camp Administrator Tim Shearer is home from a nearly nine-month deployment assisting the government of Iraq’s Anbar Province. Shearer, a U.S. Army Reserve colonel with 27 years of reserve and active duty service, served as the second-in-command of the Anbar Provincial Reconstruction Team. The province includes the major cities of Fallujah and Ramadi. Shearer, who earned a Bronze Star for his overseas efforts, left Angels Camp in January after several months of back-and-forth to various military training assignments across the country. His 358th Civil Affairs Brigade, based in Riverside, made stops in Fort Dix, N.J., and Kuwait before reaching Ramadi April 1. “It’s amazing, the preparations required,” Shearer said. |

Bear Valley, CA...With another great weather report for our local economy the white stuff keeps rolling in. Today: Snow. Temperature falling to around 34 by 5pm. South southwest wind between 5 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible...
Bear Valley is at the top followed by Arnold, Murphys, & Angels Camp to show the forecast for the different elevations. |

The 3:00 pm matinee is presented by the Calaveras Arts Council as part of their winter performing arts series called Ovations. The Kelly's Had A Christmas Surprise! |

The Kellys had a nice Christmas gift, too. Sgt. Dan Kelly was cleared to come home for a visit. So he is back in Angels Camp now for a week or so. He will be going back to Texas for more rehabilitation, but how wonderful for the Kelly family to be together. "We continue to get some great donations. Gary Burns of Take It To The Limit Guide Service contributed $100. Many customers have handed us money while they were shopping. Shots Energy Drinks continues to send us thousands of energy drinks to keep the guys on their toes. More customers have brought pillows, wool socks, etc. so we are able to keep boxes flowing into Afghanistan to the 101st Cop Monti every week." States Melanie of Glory Hole.

Happy New Year Readers, Every host/hostess should have a nonalcoholic beverage in his/her repertoire: interesting combination's for drivers and nondrinkers or simply a refreshing change from intoxicating drinks. A nonalcoholic cocktail needs personality. It should taste so good that the person consuming it doesn’t notice the absence of alcohol! In the best tradition of cocktails, good nonalcoholic drinks contrast flavors, such as sweetness and sharpness. Sometimes you can get this effect simply by mixing two drinks- orange juice with tonic water for example. But a greater range of ingredients .....

Angels Camp, CA....Christmas season movie releases having become a bit of a tradition, it was time thought to set out and consider some of the more grown-up features just out this year, and could not resist True Grit starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and the debut performance by a wonderful Hailee Steinfeld. Those readers familiar with the John Wayne classic from 1972 will be pleased with Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn. Fans of more realistic and less than sunny Hollywood productions will also be pleased with the tone and accuracy of the production design put together by the Coen brothers.......
