Hey Good People!! 1,680 Acres of "Pure Mountain Fun" Awaits You in Bear Valley
Posted by: thepinetree on 03/06/2019 07:11 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Warm overnight temps brought a mix of rain and snow with 3" of new snow falling in the last few hrs.and 6" in the last 24hrs. If the temps cool down today below the suggested high of 34F we could see snowfall in the 15"+ range as well as winds into the low 30' and gusts into the 40's. The surface gradient will tighten a bit today but tonight we should see the winds back off a bit as 30mph looks to be the max. 6-10" could fall tonight as well as another 5-11" by early Friday morning. With the initial warm front I suspect the snow totals will be on the lower end of the projections. With that being said, we have great coverage and conditions here at the resort and skiing/riding will be superb well into spring. March is lining up to be a snowy month also so Mother nature is delivering this season for sure! Don't forget about our 2 for 1 Tuesday’s and 50% off lift tickets for students and Emergency Responders. Come check out our Pure Mtn Fun as we have lots of it going on!

There's Still Time to Contribute to an IRA for 2018 ~ From Brian J. Tewksbury

Murphys, CA...Even though tax filing season is well under way, there's still time to make a regular IRA contribution for 2018. You have until your tax return due date (not including extensions) to contribute up to $5,500 for 2018 ($6,500 if you were age 50 or older on December 31, 2018). For most taxpayers, the contribution deadline for 2018 is April 15, 2019 (April 17 for taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts). You can contribute to a traditional IRA, a Roth IRA, or both, as long as your total contributions don't exceed the annual limit (or, if less, 100% of your earned income). You may also be able to contribute to an IRA for your spouse for 2018, even if your spouse didn't have any 2018 income.

Ric Ryan the "Walking Man of Murphys" Named Murphys Irish Day Grand Marshal
Posted by: thepinetree on 03/04/2019 04:15 PM
Murphys, CA...Ric Ryan, who has earned the title of the Walking Man of Murphys, will be the Grand Marshal when the Murphys Irish Day parade makes its way down Main St on St. Patrick’s Day eve, Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. “We always try to select someone who has helped to make this such a special place,” says Carrie Nelson, who with her husband Gerry organizes the popular parade. “We think that Ric is a prime example.” Ryan, 72, who fought for his country in Vietnam, ended up having both knees and one hip replaced. In 2008, he saw a TV news story about UCLA Health’s Operation Mend. The program provides specialty medical and psychological health care for veterans injured in the line of duty and includes their families in the care. Inspired by the story, he embarked on a one-man fundraising campaign by collecting waves during his regular walks through Murphys. Each time someone in a passing car waved at him during a walk, which isn’t uncommon in this tight-knit small town, he would wave back and earmark 25 cents from his savings. Local residents soon heard what he was doing, which led to more waving, and they began pulling over their cars to hand him cash and checks.
The SNAC Family Thanks You for Shopping & Renting Locally!

Arnold, Murphys & Sonora, CA...The SNAC Family Thanks You for Shopping Locally! Back in the early 90’s, when Shawn was selling out of the back of his truck as “The Eddy Mart”, the most important items to have on hand were life jackets, river shorts, sandals and river knives. Oh yes, and a few things the rafting customers would want, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. It became obvious that The Eddy Mart was getting too big to operate out of a garage when the whitewater kayaks came. It was time for a storefront. That’s when providence arrived on the scene.
