San Andreas, CA...Join us for a day of fun to support arts in education! Please join us on March 17, 2019 for Ride & Walk4Art in the beautiful California foothills in West Calaveras County. Choose from 2 bicycle rides—25-miles or 45-miles—or an easy 4.5-mile walk skirting New Hogan Lake. Afterwards, the Tri-Dam lions will prepare a Chicken-in-a-Barrel lunch. This is the fourth year the Calaveras County Arts Council has held Ride & Walk4Art. Past participants say that this event is the best local bike and walk event, and serves a sensational lunch along with a friendly community atmosphere.
Arnold, CA...Earlier this month there was a passing of the torch (electric torch) in Arnold as Troy Gravison & his wife Yesenia took over as the new owners of Pioneer Electric. It was a happy but emotional occasion for Tim Bennett as Pioneer Electric has been part of his life since founding it 35 years ago. Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! A crisp morning of clear skies and 22F starts the day ahead of the approaching storm system. Snow showers are expected today but looks to arrive late morning into early afternoon. Tonight we could see up to 4″ as the system starts kicking into high gear. The next 3 days or so will bring copious amounts of snow to the forecast area with Aline County directly in it’s sights. Totals from the current model runs will look like this: Tuesday-4-8″, Tuesday night 8-12″, Wednesday-5-9″, Wednesday night 13-19″, Thursday- 16-22″, Thursday night- snow showers. So it looks like 46-70″ are possible but we’ll see how the last half of the system works out as warm air on the backside of the system could bring snowfall elevations up near 6500′ at the end of the storm. Surface pressure gradients will also increase come late Tuesday night/Wednesday as winds will pick up into the 30’s and possible low 40’s. Drifting snow and bigger accumulations will be seen with redistribution on the micro and macro levels. Either way conditions are favorable for quality snow production and the coming storms look to be low enough in elevation that the Grizz Bowl looks to come online sooner than later. This a classic January snowfall pattern for us and It’s time for some skiing/riding my friends so come on up and enjoy some “Pure Mtn Fun”.

Murphys, CA...Planning is underway for the ever-popular Murphys Irish Day that will take place on St. Patrick’s Day eve, Saturday, March 16. Through the years, the event has grown to become one of the Mother Lode’s most successful festivals, attracting thousands of local residents and visitors. It is always staged on the third Saturday in March and is a presentation of the Murphys Business Association. Proceeds fund the many activities of the association as well as community projects and enhancements.
