Frogtown, CA...What will you see in the barns this year at the Fair? 46 head of cattle, 157 pigs, 73 head of sheep, 45 market goats, 39 dairy and pygmy goats, 259 chickens, 25 turkeys, 119 rabbits and 10 cavies. Prior to the Fair there are 19 horses in the horse show and 10 dogs in the dog show. Lots of critters to see at the Calaveras County Fair. "Country Nights and Carnival Lights" May 18-21, 2017

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of Mind Matters at its monthly mixer to be held at the clinic on Thursday, April 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mind Matters, a non-profit clinic located in Murphys, is dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD), and learning disabilities, in achieving their maximum potential. It also strives to promote public understanding by serving as a community resource.

The event features wine tasting, gourmet samplings, live music by the Bob Eisenmann Jazz Trio, food and wine demonstrations, local artists painting along with artisans on site and a silent auction featuring Calaveras experiences and Calaveras products. Owner Dan Tulipani said "Ray has been a fixture at Camp Connell for many years, helping out with special events in the backyard, and taking recyclables for us (or at least for my sister Donna). He's had a difficult time of late, and well Ray here's to you - our tribute to a local gem! Arnold, CA...The Arnold Branch Library will commemorate 50 years in Arnold with a week-long celebration May 23-28, 2017. Our festivities will include Patron Appreciation Day, Children's Day, Story Time with a firefighter and a visit to the Ebbetts Pass Fire Station #1, an author panel and book signing (Robin Burcell, Catriona McPherson, Allison Brennan, Eileen Rendahl, and Cindy Sample -- all award-winning Northern California Mystery writers), a visit from the State Librarian, Greg Lucas, a VIP Reception and the week ends with our annual Giant Book Sale.
