Sonora, CA...On January 1st, 2016, Tuolumne County awoke to the New Year with sad news that one of its best-loved arts benefactors had passed, Richard Burleigh. With nearly 40 years' experience organizing popular arts, crafts and music festivals, Burleigh will long live in the hearts of many people as the man, who brought us creative fun! Now, to honor him Burleigh's family and Tuolumne County Arts Alliance are working together to create the Richard Burleigh Memorial Scholarship to support local youth arts. "From the day he moved to Tuolumne County, Richard went to work to help create our local arts council," says TCAA's executive director Connie O'Connor-Gahagan. "He was a founding member of our arts advocacy work. With such a deep friendship, everyone at TCAA knew that we needed to help build a lasting tribute to this brilliant producer and artist."

New Year’s resolutions are so easy to make — and break. Why is it so hard to make them last? Scientists, funded by the National Institutes of Health, are learning more about how we can make healthy changes and sustain them. “Change is always possible,” says Dr. Linda Nebeling, an expert in behavioral change and nutrition at NIH. “One challenge with New Year’s resolutions is that people often set unrealistic goals. Any resolution to change needs to include small goals that are definable and accompanied by a solid plan on how you’ll get to that goal.”

San Andreas, CA...Julie Eckardt-Cantrall is the new Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation. Her goal is to raise awareness that individual giving plays a key role in improving health care excellence. “Awareness is the first step in fundraising,” she says. “We want people to know their personal donations to the Foundation are needed, important and appreciated. We understand that a gift of $50 may be quite a stretch for one individual, while others might choose to donate larger amounts,” she notes. “A balance of large and small gifts is essential – and each should receive equal gratitude.”

Patient Comfort Is Goal For Diagnostic Imaging Team At Mark Twain Medical Center
Posted by: thepinetree on 01/13/2017 07:52 PM
San Andreas, CA...The Diagnostic Imaging team at Mark Twain Medical Center knows their services can be scary. That’s why they concentrate as much on patient service skills as they do on state-of-the art equipment. Imaging Services Director Rick Reed explains, “We understand that our tests can create some anxious situations for patients. The equipment can be intimidating, so it’s important we help patients understand the process and make the experience as pleasant as possible. We emphasize these tests are a critical first step in their treatment.” The department provides a wide range of services and averages some 2,500 tests a month. On-site that includes general X-ray, CT scan, nuclear medicine, ultra sound, mammography, and MRI; plus a mobile PET CT that visits MTMC every other week.
