Hank and Mat were now raising their young family, and seeing the potential growth and needs of Calaveras County purchased acres of land in 1960 just on the edge of town. They built and developed the first shopping center in the county. He anchored his 27,000 sq. ft. furniture, appliance, hardware, and gift shop with a local bank and grocery store.
