Valley Springs, CA...Our Firefighters responded to a tragic vehicle accident this evening that resulted in a fatality. It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Lilly Butler. Her father was a former Captain for our Fire District. The Butler family is part of our fire family. We are grieving over this loss and ask everyone to please respect their privacy at this time and keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Arnold, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily close State Route 108 East (Sonora Pass) to traffic at Kennedy Meadows due to storm conditions, beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. The California Department of Transportation will also temporarily close State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) and State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) to traffic due to storm conditions, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Columbia, CA..California State Parks plans to burn hand piles in Columbia State Historic Park with work beginning as early as Friday, December 1, 2023. Active pile burning will occur over several months. Work will be in the Springfield, historic core, and Karen Bakerville Trail areas, referenced on the included map. Ignition is dependent on weather conditions and resources. Smoke will be present and remain in the area after active burning has stopped.
