FIRE NEWS....100 Acre Vegetation Fire in West Point... Contained as of 8:05pm~By Hanna Alldrin with Contained

West Point, CA....Vegetation Fire is being reported that began at 485 Smitty Lane across from Winton Road in West Point. Blue Mountain is reporting a large steady column of smoke. Units are responding now, no further information at this time. UPDATE #1: Engine 4463 was the first on scene and reported the fire at 2 acres in size. The fire has a dangerous rate of spread, burning brush and timber. One structure is immediately threatened. "We are taking action immediately and call for additional units," engine 4463. UPDATE #2: The fire is moving quickly and growing in size. Units are evacuating many structures that are threatened....

West Point, CA...UPDATE as of 6:20pm...Kim and I and are on scene now at the West Point fire. Winton Road Remains closed. Smoke output appears to have diminished. Air traffic still remains heavy. It appears that some residents are being allowed back into their homes. CAL Fire is stating no containment as of yet. More updates to come by Hanna and ourselves. UPDATE #1 7:05pm....Just spoke with Lisa Williams at CAL Fire, the fire is not yet contained but it appears they have the upper hand on it. No homes have been damaged per Lisa, also still remains at 100 acres in size. More to come.. UPDATE #2 7:10pm...We are on scene now near the fire. The fire apparently started down a ridge then climbed to the top of a ridge off of Valentine Hill Drive. One home that was affected, was the home of Frank and Janice Lowry. There home was doused with retardant, and due to quick thinking on their part and their neighbors, using tractors and a loader, they quickly cleared the area around their home. The fire burned within 100 feet of their residence...

Chinese Camp, CA....CAL Fire is stating spontaneous combustion of a wood chip pile causes a 60'x60' spot of wood chips burned at Ultra Power Hwy 120 near Chinese Camp in Tuolumne County. There are no estimated damages, no dollar estimates and no injuries reported. Fire report enclosed....

FIRE NEWS....Small Spot Fire Being Reported at Hwy 12 and Double Springs Road (Update as of 10:18am)

There is a small spot fire being reported at Hwy 12 and Double Springs Road with slow rate of spread. (Update..Lisa Williams from CAL-FIRE is reporting the fire as contained at 1/4 acre. However there is traffic congestion in the area and CHP is controlling traffic based on need to move equipment. Avoid the area if at all possible.) Updates to come if needed.

San Andreas, CA....The Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit (TCU) of CAL FIRE will be conducting a focused defensible space compliance law enforcement operation in Calaveras County on Saturday and Sunday, August 30th and 31st, 2008. The purpose of this operation is to issue citations to homeowners who have not cleared around their homes as required under Public Resources Code....

VEHICLE ACCIDENT......Highway 49 and Rawhide Road

Tuolumne County, CA.....A vehicle accident is being reported (7:41AM) at Highway 49 and Rawhide Road. Units have reported the collision having no injuries. Please use cation in this area, traffic is slow due to collision. UPDATE #1: The vehical accident is just north of Rawhide Road on Highway 49. A single vehical is involved and has rolled over on the side of the bank. No injories or fire being reported at this time. Updates to come if needed.......

Tuolumne County, CA....Yesterday's grass fire ended up burning 1.9 acres with no dollar damages reported at 19401 Rawhide Road in Tuolumne County. There were no injuries and the cause is undetermined. CAL Fire report enclosed....

FIRE NEWS......Two 1 1/2 Acre Vegetation Fires are Being Reported Across from Highway 49 at 19401 Rawhide Road....FIRE CONTAINED at 1:10pm

Tuolumne County, CA.... A Vegetation Fire is being reported (12:47pm) at Rawhide Road Across of Highway 49 near Sapphire Ridge Road. Units are responding to the fire now. UPDATE #1: The updated address of the vegetation fire is 19401 Rawhide Road near French Flat Road. Copter 404 has reported multiple structure being threatened at this time, and the size of the fire being approximately 1 acre in size. The head of the fire is being held at the end of a driveway. UPDATE #2: There is now two fires being reported near Rawhide Road, fires are a couple hundred feet apart and 1 1/2 acres in size. Both fires have a slow rate of spread. UPDATE #3: The spread of the fire has stopped and crews are working hard to contain the fire. Update #4: The fire has been contained as of 1:10pm. No structures were damaged in the fire. Units will continue to stay on scene for approximately 3 hours for mop up of the fire. Great Job Crews and Units.

Vehicle Flat Tire Cause of Four Roadside Fires in Valley Srings Last Evening

Valley Springs, CA...CAL Fire is stating a vehicle flat tire is the cause of four roadside fires that occurred at 626 Hwy 26 near Gold Creek Drive in Valley Springs. These fires burned 3 acres, total dollar damages are $600. No injuries reported. The full CAL Fire report is enclosed....
