FIRE NEWS....Two Fires Burning in the Stanislaus National Forest with Continuing Updates As Needed (Update as of 6:35pm) |
Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/30/2008 05:13 PM
|
There is currently a fire burning in the Cabbage Patch area in the Stanislaus National Forest. No acreage estimates as of yet. Crews are in bound. Updates to follow. Update #1...According to CAL Fire, there are two fires burning now, this second fire is in the Thompson area also in the Stanislaus National Forest. No acreage estimates on either as of yet. Crews are in bound. Update #2....We just spoke with USFS dispatch and the second fire ended up just being smoke. The primary incident is actually in the fairly remote Mattley Meadow area. There are numerous assets on the fire including air tankers and ground crews. They have slowed the spread and at last estimate it is only an acre or so. Let's hope they can keep it from spreading. USFS dispatch did express some concern that if the fire made it to the Mokelumne River Drainage, it would have potential to grow. Updates will follow as needed and hopefully they can keep it pinned down...
