MOC Fire Incident Entering Final Stages of Containment

Groveland, CA...All Mandatory Evacuation Orders & Fire Advisements for the communities impacted by the MOC Fire have been lifted. The agencies involved in helping to mitigate this fire have effectively entered the final stages of containment and mop up. The personnel and cooperating agencies assisting the CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit have begun transitioning out. CAL FIRE will remain on scene and committed to the MOC Fire until completion of the incident.

Sacramento, CA...Continued favorable weather conditions continue to aid firefighters in their efforts towards containment. More than 15,000 firefighters today are battling over two dozen major fires and lightning complexes across California. In the past 24-hours there were over 400 lightning strikes in Northern California. Firefighters continue to monitor for additional lightning strike wildfires. As firefighters continue to make good progress towards containment on all the fires, and thanks to the efforts of firefighters two fires have been fully contained.

Evacuation Orders to Be Lifted on the MOC Fire

Groveland, CA...All areas currently under Evacuation Orders will be open to residents for repopulation beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. The following road closures will remain in effect, however; they will be open to residents with identification. Highway 49 from 120 to Black Creek. Priest Coulterville Road, from Highway 120 to J132/Greeley Hill Road.

MOC Fire Reaches 50% Containment & All Road Closures to be Lifted Wednesday at 6pm

Groveland, CA...Continued threat to approximately 1,500 residences. Threat to critical power and water distribution infrastructure for the City of San Francisco, PG&E and Moccasin Fish Hatchery. The Moc Fire is approximately 2,800 acres with 50% containment. All Evacuation Orders have been lifted as of August 25, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. Beginning Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. all MOC Fire road closures will be lifted to all traffic, in both directions, including Highway 49 and Priest Coulterville Road.

California Secures Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to Support State’s Response to Northern California Wildfires

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that the White House has approved California’s request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to bolster the state’s emergency response to wildfires burning in Northern California and support impacted residents in Lake, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties.

PG&E Restores Most MocFire Outages. Only 419 Customers Left to Restore

Groveland, CA...PG&E crews have been able to access most of the equipment affected by the MocFire and restore power to most of the Moccasin and Groveland areas. There are still 419 customers without power but that is down from over 4,000. No estimates as to restoral of the rest because they have as yet been unable to access the rest of the affected equipment due to fire activity in the area...

Jack Ass Creek Drainage Continues as Trouble Spot for MOC Fire Crews

Groveland, CA...Crews continue to secure the fire line along the north and southwest sides of the incident. The fire activity in the Jack Ass Creek drainage continues to be a point of concern for suppression personnel. Suppression efforts in this area of the fire will continue through the evening. The approaching weather front is projected to affect fire behavior and be a driver for suppression tactics.

Red Cross Mobilizes Across Region in Response to Fires, Encourages Safety & Preparedness

Sacramento, CA...The American Red Cross mobilized several teams this week in response to multiple fires throughout the California Gold Country Region. Right now, Red Cross volunteers and staff are supporting evacuees with non-congregate sheltering sites, water, snacks meals, and virtual health and mental health services. As of last night, nearly 400 evacuees stayed in Red Cross, county, and independent shelters throughout the region. We have also assisted more than 200 individuals by placing them in local hotels.
