Bear Valley, CA...A recipient of the National Prize of the Arts Grant in Argentina, ever since JP Jofre arrived in New York City, he has been repeatedly highlighted by the New York Times and praised as one of today’s leading artist by the Lincoln Center. Mr. Jofre has taken his form of contemporary tango to some of the most important venues in Asia, Europe, America and the Caribbean as soloist and composer. He has recently collaborated with Paquito D’ Rivera, Gloria Estefan, Symphony Sillicon Valley, Sacramento Philharmonic, Philippe Quint, Fernando Otero, Westchester Jazz Orchestra, Fred Sturm, Esperanza Spalding, Frost Studio Jazz Band, Borislav Strulev, and Nina Beilina among many others....

Bear Valley, CA....29-year old New York-based pianist and composer Taylor Eigsti started playing the piano when he was 4 years old. The Menlo Park native was quickly labeled a prodigy, and has since released 7 albums as a leader. In 2006, Eigsti received two GRAMMY nominations for Best Jazz Solo and Best Instrumental Composition after releasing “Lucky to Be Me” (Concord Jazz). Since then, Eigsti released two much-acclaimed albums after this, “Let it Come to You” (2008 Concord) and “Daylight at Midnight” (2010 Concord). Eigsti has also been featured as a sideman on many award-winning albums throughout the years as well...

Roger Joel Test, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Bear Valley on July 20, 2014. Roger was born June 25, 1946, in Stockton, Ca., the youngest son of Lloyd and Verna Test. Roger grew up in Stockton, graduating from Stagg High School. He graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelors Degree, then a Masters Degree in Business from California State University at Fresno. He went on to achieve a Degree in International Studies from Thunderbird Institute in Arizona. Roger traveled through Europe for a year before obtaining a Diploma Di Ski from the University of Grenoble in France. He was a pioneer of the french style of skiing in California, having studied with Georges Joubert, of French Olympic skiing fame...

San Andreas, CA....Playing to a standing room only crowd (At least at the start of the meeting) the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Voted 4-1 to reaffirm support for a Wild & Scenic Designation for the Mokelumne River. Many, many community members, elected officials, business groups, conservation groups and more weighed in on the topic. Supervisor Edson was the lone vote on the board in opposition. All of the items on the consent agenda passed and the agenda is enclosed again as a reference...

Bear Valley, CA....The Co-op is continuing to progress forward with our plan to purchase the mountain and we should be ready to meet our contingencies in time for the original August 1st deadline. There is a second potential buyer for the resort and Village and the Co-op has also had discussions with them to understand more about their business and how the two efforts might work together...

Arnold, CA...Last Saturday over 130 vehicles ranging from custom rods worth will into six figures to pickups built by local teenagers to 3,000 hp drag boats filled Cedar Center to overflowing. Organizers behind the Arnold Classic Car Show are already looking to next year to see how they can display even more great vehicles....
