Summer Storms Mean Beautiful and Powerful Displays of Nature |

Bear Valley and Lake Alpine, Ca... This past weekend, as many experienced, there were quite the summer storms occurring. While the rain was welcome, the lightning made everyone wary. However, for a couple of visitors to our beautiful area, the lightning made for a fantastic photo op. Ryan Schill, from Cupertino, captured an amazing lightning strike while staying at cabin in Bear Valley, and reported that the rain quickly put out the fire that the lightning started. Rachael Manners was staying in a cabin in Pacific Valley, and drove to Lake Alpine, where she was able to snap a few photos of the lightning storm above the mountains. Art Show at Bear Valley Music Festival |

Bear Valley, Ca...The 23rd Annual Arts of Bear Valley Summer Show will be held at he Perry Walther Building (Next to the Bear Valley Music Festival Tent). Come on up and enjoy the music and an art show with over 23 participating artists. The show starts Friday, July 25th and runs through Sunday, August 10th, 2014. The Show will be open on all Concert Days, 11 AM through intermission of the nightly Music Show. Entry to the show is free. The Artwork is juried for quality and technique. This year our juror is well known Artist Barbara Conley. She will also select a "Best of Show" art piece. A reception for the public will be hosted by AOBV on Saturday, July 26th, from 5PM to 6:30PM, before the Tommy Castro & The Painkillers Concert. Most artists will be in attendance to greet you and answer any questions about their artwork. Hors d'oeuvres will be served...

Arnold, CA....(Her mother wishes to thank everyone for their concern and efforts. She has been found safe and sound!) My daughter Camille Withuhn was last seen at Golden Pines Camp Ground near Arnold CA, on 7-18-14, around 7:pm..Calaveras Co Sheriffs Dept undertook a full investigation, helicopter search and rescue , volunteers and community has pulled together in search for her. Bear Valley, CA....Membership Sales - 103% as of 7:00pm on 7/15! July 15th, 2014. We have been busily processing applications for memberships and as of 7:00pm today (July 15th) we have processed enough membership registrations to pass the 100% mark....and more are still coming in! That is a REALLY good thing because we are not done at 100%...we still need to sell memberships to build up enough capital to make improvements on the mountain in time for the winter season! Great work and thanks to all that helped make this all possible!

Angels Camp, CA...Last Saturday morning Hwy 4 closed down to make way for a huge crowd in Arnold. We think it was the largest crowd since at least 2006 but we had several business people tell us they thought it was the largest parade crowd ever. So is Arnold back as a premier destination? Well thousands and thousands voted with their attendance in the affirmative. In our informal business survey we asked several businesses and everyone we spoke with is already up or expects to end the year up by double digits. Below we have 454 Photos and Full Parade Video.
