Bear Valley, CA...The next storm system is upon us now. It looks like it will be bringing a White Christmas all the way to Christmas. Then you can unpack all your snow toys and go play. On a serious note. Please be prepared for at least a couple of days if your car gets stuck or stranded. The forecast through Christmas. Today... Late Afternoon Rain and snow showers. Snow level 4500 feet. Steady temperature around 37. Southeast wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Tonight Rain and snow. Snow level 4400 feet. Steady temperature around 36. Southeast wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Saturday Rain showers before 5pm, then rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 4700 feet. Temperature falling to around 31 by noon. South southeast wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected...

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley's Free Ski Day to kick off the 2012-13 Season has been a great success. A good sized crowd in on hand to celebrate the start of the season and get some runs in before December 21st just in case those pesky Mayans were correct. Dodge Ridge will open tomorrow and Kirkwood has been open for a few weeks now. Our local daily snow reports will start tomorrow...

Arnold, CA...For over two decades one familiar and reliable presence along the Ebbetts Pass Corridor has been UPS Driver Mike Mainguth. Michael has worked on Hwy. 4 from Angels Camp to Bear Valley for over 30 years. The past 24 years as a United Parcel Service delivery driver. The community has put a banner across Hwy 4 in Arnold thanking him for his service. He also recently raised his profile even a bit higher as he and his wife Evelyn recently were one of the winning couples in Dancing With the Stars at Ironstone.

Bear Valley, CA...So, here is the word...... We have a lot happening here at the Mtn. For opening day,Thursday Dec. 20th, 2012 These chairs will be in operation; Kuma, Cub, Koala, Polar Express and The Panda Carpet The frontside and Backside Terrain all have amazing coverage and will provide ample fresh turns wherever you choose to ride. Spyglass will open as we can make it available so please observe the closing until further notice. The Homerun Gate will allow access to town(as a soft boundary) and will not be groomed. We are expecting 2.5' to 5' of snow during the next system which will arrive late Thurday night and last thru the weekend and on into Mon/Tue. Snow level for this system wil be around 5500' so we are in the powder cycle people!

Bear Valley, CA... Tonight Snow showers. Low around 17. Southwest wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. Tuesday Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. Temperature rising to near 19 by noon, then falling to around 14 during the remainder of the day. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Tuesday Night A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. East northeast wind around 10 mph....

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Mountain, the Northern Sierra’s premier family skiing and snowboarding resort, today announced it will open one day earlier than planned and will offer a FREE lift ticket on opening day. Bear Valley originally announced plans to open December 21st, 2012. The resort has now opted to push the date to Thursday December 20th, 2012 just in case the mystical prophecy slated for December 21st, 2012 comes true. Free tickets will be issued at the resort on December 20th only, beginning at 9am. The resort plans to operate Kuma, Koala and Cub chair for the day offering a variety of terrain for beginners to expert. The resort is reporting 35 inch base with total snowfall of 84 inches of natural snow for the season and is currently making snow...
High Country Claims Another Life in Missing Person Case

Hope Valley, CA...On 12/06/2012, The Alpine County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the second person found was positively identified as Roderick Paul Clifton (44 years). Sadly, Roderick was found deceased. The investigation is ongoing. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Roderick was found in an area of heavy snow. Paula is recovering in the hospital from non-life threatening injuries....
