Findings on The Bear Valley Water District Wastewater Facilities Have Been Posted

Bear Valley, CA...Engineering firm MWH has posted their findings on the BVWD wastewater facilities....In an effort to better understand challenges at the facility, MWH staff visited the Bear Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), managed by the Bear Valley Water District (BVWD) on Thursday, September 15th 2011. The site visit included the influent pump station, aeration pond, chlorine contact tank, pump house, polishing reservoir, Blood Creek outfall and spray field areas....

Passes Closed as Winter Storm System Rolls Through

Bear Valley, CA...CHP and Caltrans have closed Hwys 4 & 108 as one of the first real winter storm systems rolls through. The forecast that follows is for Bear Valley...Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 19. Breezy, with a southwest wind 21 to 24 mph decreasing to between 13 and 16 mph. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Friday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. West southwest wind between 9 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected...

Bear Valley, CA...The snow has been cleared and sunshine and higher temps are on the way so Caltrans has reopened both Hwy 4 and Hwy 108 for the weekend. Now would be the perfect weekend to catch some our local high country splendor. Local Videographer and Sierra Sentry Owner Sandi Pierce produced a great video of the Ebbetts Pass Area for the Scenic Byway Celebration this year...

Still Snow in the High Country but Temps on the Rise for Weekend

Angels Camp, CA...This morning Chains or Snow Tires are required on Hwy 4 past Cottage Springs and on Hwy 108 past Long Barn and Hwy 4 and Hwy 108 are still closed. On Hwy 88 chains are required from Hams Station on up. Temps will be on the rise as we head into the weekend. The latest for Angels Camp is as follows..Today: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. South southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. East wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north. Friday: Sunny, with a high near 73. Northeast wind around 8 mph becoming west...
