Bear Valley, CA....The 5th Annual Slush Cup Dual Slalom is coming up on March 28th. This promises to be a fun event for all. As you know this is a fund raising event for Bear Valley Sports Education Foundation. We are looking for sponsors who are willing to donate prizes for our raffle or cash contributions to off set the cost of the commemorative t-shirts and awards. So if any businesses or individuals are interested and may be in a generous mood please support BVSEF. Of course all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law....

Bear Valley, CA...3″ of new snow overnight!! Contrary to earlier thinking…The up coming week shows less ridging…although no “Major” storms are on the horizon, short wave action is a good bet with windy weather Tuesday night. 1″ to 3″ possible tonight! Could be time to think about breaking out the sunscreen come the 14th or so..Beware of the ”IDES’S OF MARCH”. Check the Sierra Avalanche Center for the Backcountry forecast!!!!!! Huntington Lake, CA...We followed our local race team from Bear Valley to cover the third race in the USSA's Far West Central Series at Sierra Summit earlier in March. Racers from Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Badger Pass & Sierra Summit decended on Sierra Summit for the longest and fastest race in the USSA Far West Central Series. It was Super G for the older age groups and Big G for the 10 and under crowd. The course favored long skis and great wax jobs that could take advantage of the varying conditions. It was also a fun race for the kids....

Bear Valley, CA...What an epic day yesterday! 6″ of 4% density snow on top of 12″of 10% density snow with Bluebird conditions most of the day! The locals were ripping it up! Unsettled weather the next few days with a slight chance of snow through Monday. After that it looks like some warm sunny weather for awhile. Bear Valley, CA... On Saturday, March 13th, cross country skiers from near and far will assemble in the Bear Valley Meadow for the 37th running of the Bjornloppet Ski Race and Festival. With a 10:30 am start, The Bjornloppet, meaning Bear Race in Norwegian, is enjoyed by young and old alike. There are divisions for all ages and two distances are offered, 20 kilometers (two laps) and 10 kilometers in Saturday’s freestyle (striding or ski skating) race. The mass start is fun to watch with the go-fast racers using the ski skating technique. The course winds through aspen trees, over some ....

Hello Bear Valley Powder and Adventure Enthusiasts, March roar's in like a lion! Unanimous agreement in the weather forecasts indicate a great powder cycle with storms arriving every 2-3 days for at least the first half of March! In addition, these storms are expected to be colder than the previous cycle so epic conditions are likely! Upcoming Snowcat Adventures....

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Cross Country's Paul Peterson and his wife spent all of last week at the Vancouver Games. They were able to take in several events, including womens GS race and the US Silver Medal in the Nordic Combined event. One of the things that Paul's trip reminded him of was how fortunate we are to have Bear Valley in our back yard...
