Hwy 140 Though Ferguson Fire Burn Scar Has Reopened

Mariposa, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the California Highway Patrol re-opened State Route 140 in and near the Ferguson Fire burn scar at approximately 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, November 30, 2018. This closure was due to an ongoing storm that led to multiple mudslides and debris such as rocks coming onto the roadway. This closure was in place for approximately 17 miles from Bear Creek near Midpines to Foresta Road in El Portal – approximately 4 miles west of the Yosemite National Park entrance. The closure began overnight at 2 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29 and lasted roughly 34 hours.

Court Street, San Andreas - Temporary Road Closure for Emergency Tree Removal on Friday, November 30, 2018

San Andreas, CA...The driving public should be advised that there will be a hard road closure on Court Street, San Andreas on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crews will be removing a large hazard tree on Court Street. Detours and traffic control will be in place as shown on the map below. Please call Public Works at (209) 754-6401 with any questions.

Ebbetts & Sonora Passes to Close Ahead of Incoming Storm

Alpine & Tuolumne Counties...Caltrans District 10 tentatively plans to close Ebbetts Pass (State Route 4) at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, and Sonora Pass (State Route 108) at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21. Those times are subject to change, and could be impacted by the behavior of the weather. These are NOT the long-term, seasonal closures that Caltrans implements annually on our mountain passes.

Caltrans Closing State Route 132 in Tuolumne County for Culvert Repair.

Tuolumne, CA...Caltrans will conduct a full closure of eastbound and westbound State Route 132 (SR-132) in Tuolumne County, to replace a failing culvert that is used to carry water under the road.The closure is scheduled to begin at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, and the work is expected to be finished by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018. This will be a full 24/7 closure during the length of the project and a marked detour will be in place. The culvert is approximately 1.5 miles east of Bonds Flat Road and 1 mile west of Merced Falls Road. The culvert was damaged during the storrns that rock. western Tuolumne County last spring, and repairs were delayed until after Labor Day to minimize impact on the region's economically critical summer tourism season.

Eagle Meadows, CA...Check out Caltrans crews' progress clearing 9,623' Sonora Pass on KCRA 3 tonight. Reporter Will Heryford joined us for a ride along to document seasonal clearing on this scenic route. Once the snow is cleared, there is lots of other work that needs to be done. Prior to opening the roadway for public use, the pavement is repaired, cracks are sealed and the roadway is re-striped. The foremost guiding principle in these procedures is to maintain public and worker safety.

Caltrans to Begin Repaving Project on Hwys 108/120 in Stanislaus & Tuolumne Counties

Stanislaus/Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing a highway improvement project that will repave 34 miles of State Route 108/(SR-108) and SR-120 in Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. The project will begin at Lancaster Road in eastern Stanislaus County and continue to the SR-108/SR-49 junction in Tuolumne County, as well as to Moccasin Creek Bridge on SR-120 in southern Tuolumne County. This project will extend the service life of the existing pavement and improve efficiency and safety for motorists on these highways.

Repairs Close Sections of Cottonwood Road Through Dec. 15

Tuolumne, CA, Major reconstruction began today on 11 sites along Cottonwood Road (Forest Route 1N04) on the Stanislaus National Forest. The road was severely damaged by winter storms in 2016-2017 and was reopened to the public after the Forest Service made temporary repairs in July. The road was approved for funding assistance from the Federal Highway Administration under the Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads program.

Construction Snarling Traffic South of Angels Camp & Parrotts Ferry May Be Best Route!

Angels Camp, CA...(Editor's Note: We just heard from a viewer that this stretch of construction is causing up to 45 minute delays if you happen to mistime heading through this area. So is you have an appointment or time sensitive trip you need to make to or from Sonora Parrotts Ferry may be your best alternative. Or Red Hill Road if you don't mind a bit of gravel.) The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on northbound and southbound State Route 49 from Angels Creek to the Calaveras/Tuolumne county line. Work will begin Monday, August 14, 2017, through Friday, August 18, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
