San Joaquin, Mariposa, Calaveras, and Amador Counties - Motorists should expect 15 - 20 minute delays on highways 88, 26, 49 and 12 due to one-way traffic as Caltrans performs maintenance for utility work and paving. Overwhelming Response to Call for Project Applications Promoting Biking, Walking, and a Healthier California |

Sacramento, Ca – Caltrans is in the process of reviewing hundreds of applications due to an overwhelming response to its call for applications for projects that promote biking and walking. The 770 applications – more than half benefiting disadvantaged communities – have been received from cities and counties throughout California, totaling nearly $1 billion in project requests. All are vying for a share of $360 million in federal and state funding from the state’s Active Transportation Program, an excess in demand of 3 to 1. “We are thrilled to see such a tremendous interest in promoting alternative and active forms of transportation throughout California,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty. “This overwhelming response indicates that more local governments recognize that these projects are a good investment and will enhance the mobility, safety and health of their communities.”...

Sacramento, Ca...In Sacramento on Monday, June 16, Caltrans will unveil a new highway work zone safety campaign featuring kids of Caltrans’ very own workers displayed on nearly 60 billboards statewide asking drivers to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The message combats distracted driving in highway work zones and expands the definition of a work zone beyond “cones.”...

Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 12 from the San Joaquin/Calaveras County line to the Whelisma railroad crossing for paving. Work will begin on Monday, June 9, 2014, through Friday, June 13, 2014, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 15 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible. Construction is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues. |

Amador County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 88 from the Silver Lake Spillway to West Martin Meadow in Amador County for utility work. Work will begin on Monday, June 9, 2014, through Friday, June 13, 2014, and will be in place 24 hours a day. Motorists should expect 15 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible. Construction is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues. |
