At lower elevations, a chance of rain in the evening, then rain likely after midnight. At higher elevations, a chance of rain in the evening, then rain and snow likely after midnight. Colder. At higher elevations, rain showers until early morning, then heavy rain and snow showers late in the night. Windy, colder. Lows 23 to 38 higher elevations...35 to 45 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level above 8000 feet after midnight. Prevailing southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts to around 55 mph...except southwest 25 to 50 mph with gusts to around 65 mph over ridges. Friday Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers. At higher elevations, a chance of rain and snow showers in the morning, then a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 32 to 47 higher elevations...44 to 56 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet increasing to 6000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing southwest winds up to 15 mph. Sacramento, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning. Gusty northerly or offshore winds over the northern and western Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills will redevelop again tonight into portions of the Sierra Nevada, continuing through early Wednesday morning. The combination of offshore winds and dry airmass are expected to bring critical fire weather conditions.

Irma's Wrath Takes Aim at Florida Gulf Coast of as Hurricane Winds Officially Reach the Keys |

Key West, FL...Extremely dangerous Hurricane Irma is centered at 8 p.m. EDT about 110 miles (175 km) southeast of Key West. Radar loops indicate that Irma has temporarily slowed down, but the hurricane has been moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h) since earlier today. A northwest motion is expected to begin tonight with a turn toward the north-northwest on Sunday. On the forecast track, the core of Irma will continue to move near the north coast of Cuba during the next few hours, and should be near the Florida Keys Sunday morning. The hurricane is expected to move along or near the southwest coast of Florida Sunday afternoon.

Miami, FL...Hurricane Irma is moving closer to the Caribbean. Hurricane conditions are expected to begin within the hurricane warning area in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday. Destructive winds, storm surge, dangerous surf, heavy rainfall and flash flooding are possible. There is an increasing chance of seeing impacts from Irma in parts of Florida later this week.
