Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service is forecasting that the sun may actually shine again for at least a few days starting tomorrow along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada Tonight Mostly cloudy. Rain and snow showers likely in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 17 to 32 higher elevations...32 to 37 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light. Saturday Partly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the morning. At higher elevations, a slight chance of snow showers. Highs 29 to 44 higher elevations... 46 to 54 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 15 mph.

Arnold, CA...The rain and localized flood warnings are going to be with us for another few days. Rains will taper off after tomorrow and snow levels will drop back down along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, heavy rain. At higher elevations, rain and snow in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 38 to 50 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. No snow accumulation. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges.

Arnold, CA...Some areas have recorded their wettest January in history according to the NWS Sacramento. The updated forecast for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada is as follows. Today Widespread snow showers. Highs 18 to 33 higher elevations...31 to 38 lower elevations. Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Colder. Lows 9 to 24 higher elevations...24 to 30 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph.

Caltrans Prepares For Winter Storm Systems

Sacramento, CA...Caltrans’ crews statewide are preparing for the next round of winter storms and will be working 24/7 monitoring state routes and keeping roadways open and clear.


This slide blocked State Route 49 near Downieville on January 8th. By the next morning, Caltrans was able to drill apart the large rocks and remove the debris.

Highs 39 to 49 higher elevations...47 to 55 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph in the morning becoming light. Tonight Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows 24 to 38 higher elevations...36 to 42 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph. Wednesday Cloudy. At lower elevations, a chance of rain in the morning, then rain likely in the afternoon. At higher elevations, a chance of rain and snow in the morning, then rain and snow likely in the afternoon. Highs 32 to 44 higher elevations...42 to 50 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the afternoon.

Lows 20 to 35 higher elevations...34 to 40 lower elevations. Snow accumulation up to a foot lower elevations...2 to 4 feet higher elevations. Snow level 4500 to 5500 feet. Prevailing south winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph...except southwest 35 to 55 mph with gusts to around 75 mph over ridges. Wednesday Widespread rain and snow showers. Breezy. Highs 25 to 40 higher elevations...38 to 44 lower elevations. Snow accumulations up to 7 inches lower elevations...8 to 15 inches higher elevations. Snow level 4000 to 5000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 10 to 25 mph with gusts to around 50 mph. Over ridges, prevailing southwest winds 25 to 45 mph decreasing to 25 to 35 mph in the afternoon.

Gusts up to 35 mph after midnight. Saturday At lower elevations, widespread heavy rain showers and heavy snow showers in the morning, then heavy rain in the afternoon. At higher elevations, widespread snow showers and heavy rain showers in the morning, then heavy rain and snow in the afternoon. Breezy. Not as cool. Highs 33 to 47 higher elevations...43 to 51 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...4 to 9 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6000 feet increasing to 7000 feet in the afternoon.
