Red Flag Fire Weather Warning Issued by NWS Sacramento

Sacramento, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning. Gusty northerly or offshore winds over the northern and western Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills will redevelop again tonight into portions of the Sierra Nevada, continuing through early Wednesday morning. The combination of offshore winds and dry airmass are expected to bring critical fire weather conditions.

Irma's Wrath Takes Aim at Florida Gulf Coast of as Hurricane Winds Officially Reach the Keys

Key West, FL...Extremely dangerous Hurricane Irma is centered at 8 p.m. EDT about 110 miles (175 km) southeast of Key West. Radar loops indicate that Irma has temporarily slowed down, but the hurricane has been moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h) since earlier today. A northwest motion is expected to begin tonight with a turn toward the north-northwest on Sunday. On the forecast track, the core of Irma will continue to move near the north coast of Cuba during the next few hours, and should be near the Florida Keys Sunday morning. The hurricane is expected to move along or near the southwest coast of Florida Sunday afternoon.

Hurricane Warnings in Effect for Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands Due to Irma

Miami, FL...Hurricane Irma is moving closer to the Caribbean. Hurricane conditions are expected to begin within the hurricane warning area in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday. Destructive winds, storm surge, dangerous surf, heavy rainfall and flash flooding are possible. There is an increasing chance of seeing impacts from Irma in parts of Florida later this week.

Frogtown, USA...The week Angels Camp is officially Frogtown, USA through the International Frog Jump Finals on Sunday. Our weather looks to be perfect by the end of the week with highs in the 80s. Today Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Light northwest wind becoming west northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Prevailing south winds 10 to 25 mph, gusts up to 40 mph increasing to 55 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 75 mph in the afternoon. Over ridges...prevailing south winds 20 to 35 mph increasing to 40 to 60 mph in the afternoon. Tonight Heavy rain at lower elevations...and heavy rain and heavy snow at higher elevations. Very windy. Lows 26 to 38 higher elevations...37 to 43 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...7 to 12 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds 25 to 35 mph increasing to 25 to 45 mph after midnight. Gusts up to 75 mph. Over ridges... Prevailing south winds 40 to 55 mph increasing to 45 to 65 mph after midnight.

Today At lower elevations, heavy rain in the morning, then rain showers in the afternoon. At higher elevations, heavy rain and snow in the morning, then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Windy. Highs 32 to 46 higher elevations...43 to 53 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 6 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet decreasing to 6000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing south winds 15 to 30 mph decreasing to 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 50 mph. Over ridges...prevailing south winds 30 to 45 mph becoming southwest 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Rain and snow showers likely in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 17 to 32 higher elevations...32 to 37 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light. Saturday Partly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the morning. At higher elevations, a slight chance of snow showers. Highs 29 to 44 higher elevations... 46 to 54 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 15 mph.

Rains will taper off after tomorrow and snow levels will drop back down along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, heavy rain. At higher elevations, rain and snow in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 38 to 50 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. No snow accumulation. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges.
