Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Winter Weather Watch for our area. It is as follows...Periods of snow expected over the NorCal mountains and upper foothills through mid-week. A Pacific storm system will bring snow to the mountains and upper foothills through Wednesday evening. Snow is forecast to begin today across the northern mountain then spread south into the northern Sierra Nevada on Tuesday into Wednesday. Travel impacts will likely become more extensive across the northern mountains by this evening, and across the northern Sierra Tuesday afternoon and night.

Sacramento, CA... Governor Gavin Newsom today issued an emergency proclamation for the counties of Monterey and San Luis Obispo due to winter storms this week that have threatened to cause mud and debris flows, forced the evacuation of thousands of residents and damaged critical infrastructure, including washing out a portion of Highway 1.

Snow accumulation up to 3 inches. Snow level 3000 to 3500 feet. prevailing south winds up to 10 mph. Tonight, Mostly cloudy. Colder. Lows 10 to 25 higher elevations...23 to 33 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph.

Bear Valley, CA... Hey Good People! As the upper level trough makes way, colder temps will arrive first thing this morning and help bring snow levels down to the 4500′. Surface gradients will tighten also and bring winds into the teens with possible gusting into the 30’s today. Currently the temp is 30F at the resort but that will plummet to the low 20’s and that will certainly help out snowfall production as we could see 5-9″ fall today. Another 3-5″ is expected this evening before the system heads east by early Monday morning. Cool temps and clear skies will prevail into Wednesday which will bring a return of possible snowfall. What California needs is for the upper jet to start tracking a bit further south which will put us in a good trajectory for the later half of December for more snowfall. Make sure to follow California guidelines and our area safe COVID-19 practices.

Arnold, CA...We need snow in the high country and we need to put an end to the fire season. The forecast for the end of the week may not do much to help either but let's hope the storm door is starting to creak open. The latest from the National Weather Service for the West Slope and Mother Lode is below...Detailed forecast for West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today Mostly sunny. Highs 61 to 76 higher elevations...73 to 83 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly clear. Lows 36 to 51 higher elevations...46 to 60 lower elevations. Prevailing north winds up to 10 mph shifting to the east after midnight.
