Vallecito, Ca...Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to announce the next concert of our Twisted Folk Concert Series – featuring Chris Webster and Nina Gerber! “Two amazing women on our stage at the same time!,” said winery co-owner Jeff Stai. “Chris Webster’s amazing singing voice that wowed everyone that saw her perform here with Mumbo Gumbo last year – and the amazing guitar playing of Nina Gerber. How could it be any better?” An easy dinner (easy because you don’t have to cook) featuring a Caesar chicken wrap will be available for purchase (with a vegetarian option available), along with yummy Twisted Oak wine, brownies, popcorn, and soft drinks. Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own picnics but we ask that no outside alcoholic beverages be brought in. Seating at Twisted Folk concerts is outdoor festival style, first-come, first-served – bring a low beach-type chair or a blanket. We’re on top of a hill and there is always an evening breeze – it can get a little chilly after dark so please plan ahead...

Vallecito, Ca —For those who like their half marathons with plenty of scenery, AND elevation (not to mention some outstanding wine tasting afterwards), be sure to put Saturday July 5 down on your calendar for the 27th annual Hernia Hill Half Marathon at Twisted Oak Winery. Produced by On Your Mark Events, this exciting race, as well as its popular post-race barbecue, has become a mid Sierra area Fourth of July holiday weekend tradition—for both the locals and those who travel in from throughout California and Nevada. Along with the half marathon, the Hernia Hill event also provides a 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk. In addition, there is the famous Rubber Chicken 5K Relay. Teams of four people will hand off a special rubber chicken, as the baton (that's 1.25k per runner).... |

Vallecito High School Graduate Completes U. S. Navy Basic Training |

Great Lakes, Ill....Navy Seaman Recruit Derek E. Rich, son of Chris B. and Maria S. Adams of Murphys, Calif., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Rich completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations". This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. "Battle Stations" is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly ''Navy'' flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor. Rich is a 2012 graduate of Vallecito High School, Vallecito, California. Congratulations, Rich! We wish you success with your military career! |
