Valley Springs, Ca... Tragedy struck our small community on Saturday, April 27th, 2013, when Leila Fowler, a beautiful 8-year-old little girl, was killed in her Valley Springs home. As news of this tragedy spread throughout Valley Springs and beyond, friends and family rallied to help her family get through this horrible time. Hardly even three days after this tragedy struck, a vigil was held at Leila's elementary school...

Local 8th Grader Headed to State Science Fair.....Still A Little Short of His Goal

Calaveras County, CA...Update 4/28/11: Michael has received some very generous donations from our viewers! The family is so thankful! "I am so excited for him, what a wonderful opportunity he has before him and with his drive to do the best he can, hopefully he will place during the state competition. He is going to go back to the IGA in Copperopolis again tomorrow with his project to answer questions and share what he has discovered. Hopefully by the end of the day he will have reached his goal , he has a baseball game on Saturday morning" States Michael's Grandmother, Cindi Bent.....Local 8th grader, Michael Legge is headed to the State Science Fair! Michael won 1st place at the Calaveras County Science Fair in his division with his project "Mysterious Bacteria vs. Evil Tobacco." Michael is a student at Mark Twain Elementary and needs our help! Here is a letter from Michael: "Hello my name is Michael Legge and I am an 8th grade student at Mark Twain Elementary School. It was another of the ongoing Economic Development meetings that have been spearheaded by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise Candidates Night for District 4 Packs the House!

Murphys, CA....Native Sons Hall of Murphys was the place to be tonight for the Supervisor Candidates District 4 Night. The Hall was packed with community members trying to decide who they want representing them in their District. Present were Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. This event event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Calaveras Enterprise. Each Candidate was asked questions by Moderator, Buzz Eggleston, Editor of the Calaveras Enterprise. The audience also participated in questions for the hopeful candidates. The evening started at 6:30pm and ran until about 8:30pm. The next Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall for District I Supervisor. Present will be Zerrall McDaniel, Gary Toffanelli and Kathy Mazzaferro. As we get closer to election day the candidates are starting to define their positions in clearer terms. We will be posting some excerpt clips of some of the sharper exchanges in a separate piece. San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....
