Murphys, CA....The Native Son's Hall in downtown Murphys had about 30 attendees tonight for the First District 4 Supervisor Candidates Night. The night's event was sponsored by the Mountain Chronicle of Arnold and Vida Mona Winery of Murphys. The candidates present this evening were longtime Supervisor, Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. Also present, were the current sitting Supervisors of Calaveras County. It was a full debate style show with two minute opening statements, panel questions, audience questions and closing arguments....

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to chat for a few minutes with The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce's Executive Director, Diane Gray. One of the big pushes for the Chamber this year will be Economic Development and bringing additional jobs to the county. The Chamber is meeting with Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Chair, Steve Wilensky next week. A Supervisor's Study Session will be held at a later date on Economic Development. This will enable what everyone can do to enhance the economic vitality of our area....

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to talk for a few minutes with Ray Waller, the former head Calaveras County Building official on the ongoing driveway slope controversy. For those of you who may not remember the county stopped issuing permits for development on parcels where the driveway slope exceeds 16%. This has numerous parcels currently tied up in protraced if not uncloseable escrows and has thrown the value of hundreds of millions of dollars of county real estate and homes into question. We wanted to talk with Ray about this issue because he was with the county and the building department when the original county ordinance was created to comply with state code 4290...
