Jenny Lind, CA...Supervisor Russ Thomas played host and invited County Assessor Grant W. Metzger, Jr. and Leslie Davis, Assistant Assessor to address the public on if the declining home values can also lower your tax bill. Last night's meeting was held at the Jenny Lind Firehouse. The Assessor's office has already sent out 5,500 notices to county property owners who have had a value decline. If you have not received a notice then at least according to the county your property values have not dropped....

Angels Camp, CA....A little bit of country and history took place on Saturday at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. Since cowboys are such an important part of the history and heritage of Calaveras County, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the cowboy with a Barbecue Dinner and Dance. The National Day of the American Cowboy.....

Angels Camp, CA....If you did not have a chance to attend or catch our "Live" streaming of the Economic Summit that took place on Friday, we now have the replay up for your viewing pleasure.....The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, together with the County of Calaveras and the City of Angels sponsored the 1st Annual Calaveras County Economic Revitalization Summit, a first time historic event, and the beginning of a county-wide ongoing design process. After months of planning, just over 150 of the best and brightest of our local minds met, strategized, planned, broke bread together and listened to some great speakers. Most of our current Supervisors and many department personell, Business Leaders, The City of Angels Camp management team, Educators and more were on hand. It was an all day event starting with the first speaker, Steve Art ,who is the economic development director for Lincoln CA. In recent years Lincoln was one of the fastest growing cities in the US....

CAL Fire Reports Six Fires in Calaveras County Over Holiday Weekend

Calaveras County, CA....CAL Fire reported six fires in Calaveras County over the 4th of July weekend. The first occurred on July 5th at 415 Sandy Gulch Road in Wilseyville. 1/2 acre of grass vegetation burned due to electrical power lines. No injuries reported. The 2nd occurred on July 5th at 7858 Mountain Ranch Road in Mountain Ranch. Cause of fire was Arson, Fireworks. A 20' spot of vegetation was burned. No injuries reported. The third took place on July 5th at 8434 Hwy 49 and Campo Seco Turnpike in Mokelumne Hill. This fire was also caused by Arson, fireworks. 100 feet of vegetation was burned from fireworks. No injuries. There was a 6.7 acre grass fire that occurred on July 6th at 6400 Hwy 4 and Telegraph Court in Copperopolis. Cause of fire is undetermined. The largest fire of the weekend took place at Hwy 12 and Evans Road in Valley Springs on July 6th which burned 76 acres of vegetation. One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion. The cause is under investigation. The incident remains open and mop up continues throughout July 7th. The last was a fire that occurred on July 6th at 5770 Hwy 49 in Mokelumne Hill. This was two fires that burned vegetation for a total of 3 acres. Cause is under investigation. CAL Fire reports are enclosed....

Mountain Ranch, CA....The versatile Matt Cullen Trio will bring its repertoire of music from the 1940‘s and ‘50’s to the Mountain Ranch Park on Wednesday, July 2, as part of the Calaveras Arts Council’s “Music in the Parks.” The free event starts at 6:30 pm, and folks should bring their own chairs and picnics. 1/3 of the Homes in Calaveras County May Lack Final Inspections States Community Development Department

San Andreas, CA...Final Inspections in addition to the Budget, Flood Plain and other issues were in front of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today. At nearly the close of the meeting Supervisor Tryon wanted to see the Board hold a study session at a future date on the CDA's current reexamination of property records to see whether homes and other building projects have in fact had final inspections. Stephanie Moreno came in to address the Board on this topic. She mentioned that her department is charging nominal, typically under $200 fees for the final inspections and that the inspections are held to the standards of the codes which were in effect when the projects were built. A larger bombshell that came out during this discussion, may possibly be the number of homes and projects her department feels may be in need of final inspections. The CDA staff estimates that up to "1/3 of the homes in Calaveas County may need final inspection"...
San Andreas, CA...CHP has released information on a couple accidents that have happened the last few days. On Thursday, June 12th, a 57 year old Mountain Ranch Women lost control of her vehicle while in an apparently drugged state as she was heading West on Mountain Ranch Road. On Saturday, June 14th an 80 year old San Bruno Resident turned into the path of a 55 year old Turlock resident who was taken to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital with moderate injuries.
