May 20th Celebration of Life for Steven Van Jones of Mountain Ranch Who Passed Away At 63

Mountain Ranch, CA...Steven Van Jones, 63, died Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Mark Twain Hospital from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He leave behind his son, Steven Van Jones, 2 twin grandsons, Silas and Peyton Van Jones Roberts, brother Daryl Jones, sister Debra True, father Elbert Jones and many close friends. Born and raised in Los Altos Hills, son of Elbert V. Jones and Billie L. Jones then moved to Calaveras County in his late 20's after working for his father's plastering company as a Hod Carrier. His passions were Indian Motorcycles (one which he built at age 13!), gold mining and entertaining his many friends with his stories and adventures.

Mountain Ranch, CA...What is the Stop, Drop & Mud? This race is designed to be a fitness challenge, pitting First Responders (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement) and Military against the general public.  Show us what you’ve got! We are proud to be bringing a mud run to Mountain Ranch this year — the first of its kind!  We are planning on approximately 16 obstacles along the route that will range from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. Participants will start and finish at the Mountain Ranch Park in the heart of Mountain Ranch.  All participants will receive a 2017 Stop, Drop & Mud shirt.

Sonora Man Loses Life During Tree Work On Whiskey Slide Road

Mountain Ranch, CA...We just confirmed with the Calaveras County Coroner that a Sonora man in his early 20s lost his life in tree work on Whiskey Slide Road yesterday. According to the Coroner's office a limb from higher up on the tree came loose, fell on the man and he sustained fatal injuries. Notifications to his family are still being made at this time. Mountain Ranch Industrial Accident Takes Life Of 21 Year Old

Mountain Ranch, CA...On 04/06/17 at 11:20 AM, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Whiskey Slide Road north of the intersection of West Murray Creek Road, in Mountain Ranch for an Industrial Accident. A 21-year old male who was employed by a tree cutting contractor was removing an oak tree from a rural property when a limb fell onto his boom truck bucket. The worker sustained major injuries and was unconscious when emergency services arrived. The 21-year old succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
