Calaveras County Public Health Issues Heat Advisory to Residents

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Public Health Services has issued a heat advisory for the County. We urge the public to act now to prevent heat-related illness. Temperatures of 100 degrees or more are expected for the remainder of the week. Dr. Kelaita, County Health Officer, stated, “Taking action now can prevent the possibility of heat-related illness. Some health conditions such as obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, sunburn and drug/alcohol use can make it harder for the body to say cool in hot weather.”

Major Injuries To Amador City Man In Motorcycle Vs Tree Accident

West Point, CA...On 9/8/15 at approximately 1650 hours, CHP responded to a solo motorcycle collision with major injuries, on State Route 26 at Toloma Court. A 53 year old Amador City man was traveling westbound on State Route 26 at Toloma Court and an unknown rate of speed, and for unknown reasons, rode off of the roadway and collided with a tree. V-1 overturned onto the westbound shoulder of State Route 26. He was medi-flighted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for major injuries.

Butte Fire Surges To 1,200 Acres

Jackson/Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Butte Fire has surged to 1,200 acres and has Firefighters working hard in our area. Below is the latest from Calfire and below that is the latest on traffic from CHP. There are evacuations on both sides of the Modelumne river and Hwy 26 is closed from Hwy 49 on up to the Winton Road area. Thousands are without power. A fire information line has been set up at 209.754.5527

Major Injuries To Jackson Man In Cement Truck Rollover

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Yesterday afternoon a 69 year old Jackson man was driving a 2013 Kenworth in the Northbound traffic lane of SR-49 at an unknown speed. The driver due to his unsafe speed, traveled to the left of the solid double yellow center line while attempting to negotiate a sharp natural curve in the roadway to his right. V-1 then overturned. The cement truck then struck a steel guard rail. After the collision, The Kenworth came to rest on its right side facing in an Easterly direction off the roadway.

Downed Power Lines Spark West Point Area Fire

West Point, CA......On August 30 quick work by ground and air units helped keep a fire in the 400 block of Higdon Spink Cutoff Road to 1/4 acre. Downed power lines sparked the fire that had the the fuel to grow. Additional details on the incident are below.

Mokelumne Hill, CA....CHP is reporting an overturned cement truck north of Mokelumne Hill. The truck is overturned into a ditch, a lane is blocked and the driver is pinned in the truck.(Update Roadway Closed for extraction of injured party) Update as of 2pm...One way traffic controls will be in place soon to get traffic moving through accident area...) (Update as of 8pm...before CHP cleared the incident it was updated to a major injury accident)

San Andreas, CA...September 1, 2015- Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 17th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 26th from 7am to noon on the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Hosting our community health fairs allows us to express our gratitude to those that entrust us with their health care needs,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Our health fairs benefit individuals that are underserved or working towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our providers and staff are here to share preventative care and health maintenance tips. Providing affordable health care services is one way we serve our community. This is a joint effort with many other entities working together, especially the Health Care District that helps fund this initiative, to ensure that Calaveras County residents can thrive in a healthy community.”
