Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Historic Hotel Leger is music central for northern Calaveras. They in addition to the many Saturday night concerts they have they also have a weekly Blues & BBQ Series that showcases their pool and outside entertainment areas. We stopped by recently to check things out....

Glencoe, CA...Helena Faye Coffey 9/20/44 age 70 Born in Yale, Ok resident of Glencoe, Ca 95232. She passed away at home on 7/22/15 of Natural causes. She was a Cosmetologist for 30 years. Survivors: Husband Jack Coffey of Glencoe, Ca. Son Richard Coffey of Oregon. Rail Road Flat, CA...Foothill residents, Dave Koolhoven on vocals and drums, his wife Patti Koolhaven on vocals , keyboard, and guitar, Dana Angle on vocals and guitar, Myron Smallin on guitar, and Gordon Giedt on saxophone and flute, make up the Kool Shifters. They perform their classic rock and country for the Calaveras Arts Councils seventh free Music in the Parks performance on Wednesday, July 29 at Rail Road Flat Elementary School in Rail Road Flat. The Kool Shifters have long individual careers in music performance and management as well as touring, playing with, and opening for some of the great bands like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Huey Lewis and the News. Their credentials as music professionals is solid. Music begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm.

West Point, CA...Lumberjack Day! This West Point Logging celebration is scheduled for the 41st year on Saturday, October 3rd. This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring!” and the Ladies of the VFW #832 are the Grand Marshals! As always the event will bring fun, family, food, fast cars, familiar faces, handmade finery, floats, fabulous music and phenomenal flying sawdust (go logging competition!) to the forefront! The Calaveras County General Plan Update Process Picks Up The Pace & Community Plans To Be Included |

San Andreas, CA...Last night the San Andreas Town Hall was filled with a good sized crowd that weighed in on the now almost decade long General Plan update process. The Draft Plan was released on December 18, 2014. During the following 90 review and comment period there were over 400 comment letters submitted totalling over 1000 pages for review. The planning commission is scheduled to start the detailed review process July 9th. Planning Director, Peter Mauer at the start of last night's meeting gave an update on the process. One of the biggest items items of contention during the Draft Plan comment phase was on the inclusion of the Community Plans in the General Plan. In some instances local community members had spend hundreds of hours working on their visions for their communities. Direction was given to include the Community Plans in the General Plan.

The quaint, small-town atmosphere offers a true taste of Americana, and there are lots of fun activities for the entire family starting with a pancake breakfast at the Town Hall from 7:30 – 11:00 am. Be sure to save your place along Main Street to watch the famous parade that starts at 11:00 am, followed by children’s games in the park, vendors, music and food.
