The Calaveas County Board of Supervisors Are Back In Action Tomorrow With A Full Agenda |

San Andreas, CA...The Calvaeas County Board of Supervisors are back in action tomorrow in the Board Chambers starting at 9am. Some of the items on the agenda are: Adopt a Proclamation Recognizing the Work of the California Indian Manpower Consortium (CIMC), Adopt a Proclamation Recognizing the Week of October 5 through 11, 2014 as Latex Allergy Awareness Week in Calaveras County, Declare as surplus and approve the donation of kitchen equipment to the San Andreas Fire District, Approve the execution of a three (3) year lease agreement between County of Calaveras and Julia Moore, Donald Myers and Marcia Myers for Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency office space located at 291 Main Street, Unit A, West Point, California at $350.00/month for the period July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017, Approve the Award from the Office of Traffic Safety to Fund the Calaveras County District Attorney's Office "Reduce Impaired Driving" Program in the Amount of $156,903.09 for FFY 14/15, Approve the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement between Calaveras County and Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. for environmental services associated with the State Route 49 (SR 49) and Mountain Ranch Road Intersection Improvements Project increasing the not to exceed amount by $22,726 for a total not to exceed amount of $99,429 and a term ending December 31, 2016, Approve the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement between Calaveras County and Quincy Engineering, Inc. for environmental, engineering, and right-of-way services associated with the replacement of Dogtown Road Bridge No. 30C0051 and Lime Creek Road Bridge No. 30C0018 increasing the contract amount by $790,000 for a new total not to exceed $985,546 with a term ending December 31, 2018, Authorize the Purchase of Three (3) 2015 New Ford Expedition 4 x 4 Utility Vehicles, equipped to include electronic, emergency, and radio equipment, from National Auto Fleet Group, in the amount of $187,631.25, AB 109 Approve Calaveras County's participation in the Board of State and Community Correction's (BSCC) Recidivism Reduction Grant, Adopt an Ordinance to approve the zoning amendment from Unclassified (U) to Rural Residential (RR) for APN: 048-011-008, based on the findings included therein, Hold public hearing on claim of Lou A. Papais and Judie Cain-Papais, Trustees for the Cain-Papais Trust of 2002, for property tax refund for APN #034-052-025-000; (2) Deny the claim pursuant to Rev. & Tax. Code §§5096-97 for lack of jurisdiction and for failure to exhaust administrative remedies; (3) Authorize Tax Collector to review future property tax refund claims to determine whether claim meets minimum jurisdictional criteria for agendizing with Board of Supervisors and, if not, to summarily deny the claim. CCWD Customers Reduce Water Use By 22 Percent |

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras County Water District is proud to announce that its customers are taking the drought seriously, as evidenced by a 22.2 percent reduction in water use in August 2014 when compared to August 2013. In June and July, CCWD customers reduced their water use by 12.8 and 20.8 percent, respectively, when compared to last year. These reductions are quite an accomplishment, and the District applauds its customers for exceeding a goal set by Governor Edmund G. Brown in January of this year when he declared a drought emergency and called for a 20 percent voluntary reduction in water use among Californians....

Mokelumne Hill, CA...As September rolls on, we are all eagerly awaiting Autumn, not only for some Fall colors but to enjoy cooler temperatures. Thankfully, Deborah Marlene's Art Studio and Gallery is nice and cool inside; Fall colors are starting to show up now, too. This September, Deborah is welcoming Kate Frederick, as her "Artist Friend of the Month." Kate resides in Arnold with her husband Dave. She is a former member of the Arts of Bear Valley and in addition to Deborah Marlene's, she is currently showing her works, at the Aloft Gallery in Sonora. Besides creating her "artistic expressions" Kate also works full time as a realtor, at Coldwell Banker, in Arnold.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 16th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 27th from 7am to noon on the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Hosting our community health fairs allows us to express our gratitude to those that entrust us with their health care needs,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Our health fairs benefit individuals that are underserved or working towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our providers and staff are here to share preventative care and health maintenance tips. Providing affordable health care services is one way we serve our community. This is a joint effort with many other entities working together, especially the Health Care District that helps fund this initiative, to ensure that Calaveras County residents can thrive in a healthy community.”

Fire Report....Fire Causes $150,000 In Damage Home On Rail Road Flat Road. |

Mountain Ranch, CA....Fire fighters from multiple agencies worked residential structure fire that displaced residents in an early morning fire yesterday. The fire was reported at 2:30am and a home and most of it's contents were a total loss. The fire extended into vegetation and burned a 30' x 30' spot as well... Additional details are enclosed....

Pat Bradley, Pat McGreevy, & Leo Williams Were Honored At Senior Awards Luncheon |

San Andreas, CA...Three outstanding volunteers were recognized by The Calaveras County Commission on Aging on September 9, 2014 at the 2014 Senior volunteer of the Year Annual Luncheon. An enthusiastic group of more than 50 attendees congratulated Pat Bradley from District Three, Pat McGreevy from District Two and Leo Williams from District One. Supervisors Callaway, Wright and Edson each read the nominations which determined the winners of the event which started in Calaveras County in 1976. Each volunteer is very involved in so many aspects of community living here in the starting with the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum for Pat Bradley, the Calaveras Parks and Recreation Council for Pat McGreevy and the Covenant Church and Treats Market in San Andreas for Leo Williams. Their involvements are so varied and worthwhile....
