Local Schools Help The Food Bank

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/20/2013 09:23 AM
Angels Camp, CA...In an effort to provide a donation to the Resource Connection Food Bank, the Calaveras County Office of Education reached out to county schools asking for donations of canned and non-perishable food items. We received generous donations from Kathi Grover’s class at Albert Michelson School, Jacey Bray’s class at Bret Harte High School, and Jane Ferguson’s class at Mountain Oaks School. We wish to thank them as well as Bret Harte Leadership students Sean Krpan and Brandon Kelly, Calaveras River Academy students Mike Vasco, Alex Mooshi, and Austin Underhill for helping us build a canned food tree in our lobby. Because of the effort and generosity of these individuals and all others involved in the food drive, CCOE was able to make a sizeable donation to the food bank this holiday season...

Calaveras Unified staff and families want to thank the generous citizens and businesses in Calaveras County who donated and/or participated in this effort. This day would not have been possible without the kindness and generosity of Mary McIntire, Jeannie Holster, and the amazing staff at KMart in Martell. They welcomed the children with open arms and showed them such kindness and generosity...

The Salvation Army and Their Red Kettles Are Helping Here At Home

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/15/2013 09:05 AM
San Andreas, CA...You see them every year at this time – the bright red kettles of the Salvation Army – often accompanied by a volunteer ringing a bell. You see them in most cities and counties, including in our own Calaveras County. But many residents are unaware there is a Salvation Army Service Extension Unit right here in San Andreas.
