Rail Road Flat, Ca... On June 21, 2014 a 1958 Ford Flatbed was disabled in the northbound lane of Ridge Road. A '97 Honda Civic was travelling northbound and did not see the Ford due to being blinded by the sun. Jamestown, Ca...A Lexus driving northbound on La Grange Road was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway, leaving the road and travelling in the dirt culvert and embankment. The vehicle collided with a large boulder and overturned, landing on its roof and continuing across the roadway before coming to a stop in the southbound lane. The accident started a grass fire; we just checked in with TCU command and were informed that forward progress of the fire has been stopped at 250 acres. Crews remain on-scene to make sure hot spots are contained. The driver has been transported to Sonora Regional for lacerations and complaints of neck pain...

Honda Motorcycle Versus Chevy Pick-Up

Sonora, Ca... On 6/5/14 at about 3:55 P.M. a Honda motorcycle was travelling northbound on highway 49, north of Fifth Avenue, at approximately 40 mph. The Honda was directly following a Chevy pick-up, and traffic came to a stop. The Honda was unable to stop before colliding with the back of the Chevy, thus ejecting the motorcyclist. Luckily, the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries, and was transported to Sonora Regional for a broken wrist...

California Highway Pavement Healthiest in 10 years

Sacramento, CA ... Caltrans has announced that the condition of the pavement on California’s highways is at its healthiest level in more than a decade, according to the recently released 2013 State of the Pavement Report. “It’s important to maintain and preserve the existing transportation system first and foremost before making other improvements,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty. “This improvement in our pavement proves that we are committed to doing just that.”
