A Letter To The Editor In Regards To Sarah Palin~ By R Douglas Nunes

Posted by: News_Desk on 12/01/2016 09:21 AM
Arnold, CA...Letter To The Editor- I was disappointed when Trump won the election, I felt we had no “good” choices but Trump seemed the worst. Now he is proving that he is not competent to be President, by his choices for cabinet seats.

California Educators Join To Watch Election Night Results

Posted by: News_Desk on 11/08/2016 11:26 AM
Sacramento, CA...After months of campaigning to prevent another round of devastating budget cuts to our schools and students through Proposition 55, educators and supporters from across California will be coming together at the Citizen Hotel to watch the election results as the polls close Tuesday, November 8th at 8:00 p.m. Educators will also have a close eye on Prop. 58, the LEARN initiative, which helps students learn English as quickly as possible and expands opportunities for English speakers to master a second language. Prop. 52, which helps maintain billions in federal funding to support health for low-income children and seniors, is a measure educators will be watching as well.

Calaveras County Eases Possible Election Security Concerns

Posted by: News_Desk on 10/25/2016 01:37 PM
San Andreas, CA...Concerns are rising about electronic voting systems changing votes or the potential for hackers manipulating the votes. As the Registrar of Voters for Calaveras County the security of our Election is always my top priority. All votes in Calaveras are made on paper ballots. The ballots are then read by a scanner; either at your local polling place or at the Elections Office, but that is not where the vote counting ends. The day after the election we begin an audit often referred to as a canvass.

"Should Kearney Get The Boot?," A Column By Roy Estakhri

Posted by: News_Desk on 10/18/2016 03:38 PM
Calaveras County, CA...For some people giving Kearney the boot is a no brainier, they feel as if they were bartered or disenfranchised and, no debate is necessary “he needs to go” That may be very correct. I think the frustration with district 5 voters (Me being one of them) are warranted, mistakes have been made. But who made them? Mr. Kearney stated “wants and wishes’ of a select few should outweigh the ‘needs and wishes’ of the many in Calaveras County” Do you believe that? This statement that Mr. Kearney made I think is a window into a greater problem that goes beyond just our little community and, Kearney is just a small part of the greatest problem of all (US) the voters, the people, the citizens. Sounds crazy but bear with me a moment as I give you my break down of the craziness.

Senator Gaines Issues Statement On Verizon Call Center Closure

Posted by: News_Desk on 10/14/2016 04:02 PM
Sacramento, CA...Senator Ted Gaines issued the following statement on the closure of the Verizon customer service center in Rancho Cordova and the 1,000 jobs lost as a result of that closure: “Who can be surprised by this? California is doing everything it can to drive businesses out of the state. Sky-high workers compensation costs, painful energy costs driven by unchecked environmentalism, and now a minimum wage shooting up by 50-percent in the next few years, it’s little wonder that Verizon is packing up.
